Emla® cream + 12 Tegaderm™ patches

Emla® Cream + 12 Tegaderm™ Patches is a local anesthetic that reduces the sensation of pain in the treated skin area.It is suitable for various applications, including preparation for vaccinations or tattoos.The cream is dermatologically tested and meets the highest quality standards.

The cream contains 25 mg lidocaine and 25 mg prilocaine per gram. The following excipients are also included: carbomer 974P, macrogol glycerol hydroxystearate, sodium hydroxide and purified water.

Areas of application

Emla® Cream + 12 Tegaderm™ Patches is used to numb the skin before painful procedures such as needle punctures, minor surgeries and tattoos.It is also suitable for anesthesizing the genitals before medical procedures in adults and adolescents aged 12 and over.No prescription is required for this product.

Dosage

The recommended dosage for adults and adolescents over 12 years of age is 2 g of cream for smaller procedures and a maximum of 60 g for larger skin areas.The cream should be applied 1 to 2 hours before the procedure and is then effective for at least 2 hours.

Application

To apply the cream, you should follow the following steps: Squeeze a small amount of cream from the tube into the desired area and do not massage the cream in.Peel off the paper layer from the central cutout of the patch and remove the backing on the adhesive side.Carefully place the plaster over the pile of cream and remove the paper backing.Press the corners of the patch and leave it on for at least 60 minutes.Your doctor or nurse will remove the patch before the procedure.

Patient information

Talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse before using the cream if you or your child have a rare congenital disease such as glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency or methemoglobinemia.Avoid use on areas with rashes, cuts, or open wounds, except for leg ulcers.In the case of atopic dermatitis, a shorter exposure time may be sufficient.Be careful not to get the cream in your eyes and avoid using it on a damaged eardrum.If used before vaccinations with live vaccines, you should consult your doctor or nurse within the specified time to check the vaccination results.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.Occasional use of the cream during pregnancy is unlikely to have any negative effects on the unborn child.The active ingredients lidocaine and prilocaine pass into breast milk, but in such small amounts that there is generally no risk to the child.

Notes

Contains macrogol glycerol hydroxystearate.Avoid contact with eyes.Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack or outer packaging.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.
