How long does NASENGEL AL last after opening?After opening the tube, the NASENGEL AL will last for another 6 months if stored properly.Do not use the nasal gel after this period or if the expiry date stated on the packaging and tube has been exceeded.Please keep the nasal gel out of the reach of children.This medicine does not require any special storage conditions.

Ingredients of NASENGEL AL: 1 mg xylometazoline hydrochloride, 0.87 mg xylometazoline, citric acid 1-water as an excipient, glycerol as an excipient, hypromellose as an excipient, sodium citrate 2-water as an excipient, purified water as an excipient, 0.2 mg benzalkonium chloride as an excipient.

Area of application

NASENGEL AL is a product for use in the nose (rhinologic) and contains the alpha-sympathomimetic xylometazoline.It is used to reduce the swelling of the nasal mucosa (short-term treatment) in the case of a cold, episodic runny nose (rhinitis vasomotorica) or allergic rhinitis (rhinitis allergica) to facilitate the drainage of secretions in the case of inflammation of the paranasal sinuses and in catarrh of the tubal middle ear in connection with a runny nose.In this case, the medicine may only be used as directed by a doctor.

Dosage

The recommended dose for adults and children aged 6 years and over is 1 drop of nasal gel in each nostril up to 3 times a day.The medicine must not be used for longer than 7 days unless ordered by a doctor.Reapplication should only be carried out after a break of several days.Due to the risk of the nasal mucosa shrinking, it may only be used under medical supervision if you have a chronic cold.

Intake

NASENGEL AL is intended for nasal use.It is advisable to blow your nose thoroughly before using the product.The last application of each treatment day should preferably be before going to bed.For hygienic reasons and to avoid infections, please note that each dosage unit may only be used by one patient at a time.

Patient information

In the following diseases and situations, you may only use the nasal gel after consulting your doctor: if you have increased intraocular pressure, especially angle-closure glaucoma, if you have severe cardiovascular diseases (e.g. coronary heart disease, Long-QT-syndrome) and high blood pressure (hypertension), if you are being treated with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) and other potentially blood pressure-increasing drugs, if you have a tumor of the adrenal gland(pheochromocytoma), in metabolic disorders such as overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism) and diabetes (diabetes mellitus), in prostate enlargement, in the metabolic disease porphyria.

Pregnancy

Since the safety of using the drug during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been sufficiently proven, you may only use the product on the advice of your doctor and only after he or she has carefully weighed up the benefits and risks.The recommended dosage must not be exceeded during pregnancy and breastfeeding, as an overdose can affect the blood supply to the unborn child or reduce milk production.
