Areas of application
Livocab direct combination is a medicine for the treatment of allergic conjunctivitis and allergic rhinitis.It is used for complaints such as hay fever, spring colds or house dust allergies.The active ingredient levocabastine relieves symptoms such as itching, redness and swelling of the eyes and nose.The product is suitable for children aged 1 year and over, teenagers and adults.No prescription is required for this product.
Mode of action
The active ingredient levocabastine belongs to the group of antihistamines.It prevents histamine, a messenger substance in the body, from irritating the mucous membranes of the eyes and nose in allergy sufferers.This suppresses allergic reactions such as itching, redness and swelling.Livocab direct combination works locally on the affected areas and is well tolerated.
Ingredients
Eye drops:
1 ml suspension contains 0.5 mg levocabastine corresponding to 0.54 mg levocabastine hydrochloride.1 drop contains approximately 0.015 mg levocabastine.The other ingredients are water for injections, propylene glycol, disodium hydrogen phosphate, sodium dihydrogen phosphate 1 H2O, hypromellose, polysorbate 80, benzalkonium chloride solution and sodium edetate (Ph. Eur.).
Nasal spray:
1 ml suspension contains 0.5 mg levocabastine corresponding to 0.54 mg levocabastine hydrochloride.1 spray (approx. 0.1 ml suspension) contains approximately 0.05 mg levocabastine.The other ingredients are purified water, propylene glycol, disodium hydrogen phosphate, sodium dihydrogen phosphate 1 H2O, hypromellose, polysorbate 80, benzalkonium chloride solution and sodium edetate (Ph. Eur.).
Warnings
Livocab direct combination contains propylene glycol, benzalkonium chloride and phosphates.Propylene glycol and benzalkonium chloride can cause conjunctival irritation.Benzalkonium chloride can be absorbed into soft contact lenses and can cause contact lens discoloration.With prolonged use, benzalkonium chloride can cause irritation or swelling of the nasal mucosa.
Dosage and application
Eye drops:
The recommended dosage is 1 drop per eye twice daily.If the symptoms are more severe, the dosage can be increased to 1 drop per eye up to 4 times a day.The bottle should be shaken before use.Bend your head back, pull your lower eyelid down and carefully drip a drop into the conjunctival sac.After instillation, slowly close your eye.
Nasal spray:
The recommended dosage is 2 sprays per nostril twice daily.If the symptoms are more severe, the dosage can be increased to 2 sprays per nostril up to 4 times a day.The bottle should be shaken before use.Blow your nose carefully before use.Tilt your head slightly forward and spray twice into each nostril.Breathe in through your nose while using.
Contraindications
Livocab direct combination must not be used if you are allergic to levocabastine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.If you have kidney dysfunction, the nasal spray should only be used as prescribed and under the supervision of a doctor.The safety and effectiveness of Livocab direct combination in children under 1 year of age have not been proven.
Side effects
Eye drops:
Eye irritation can occur very often.Eye pain, blurred vision, headache and discomfort at the administration site such as burning or stinging sensations may often occur.Occasionally, swelling of the eyelids may occur.Very rarely, conjunctivitis, swelling of the eyes, inflammation of the eyelids, swelling of the conjunctival veins, allergic reactions such as angioedema, dermatitis and hives can occur.
Nasal spray:
Headaches can occur very often.Nausea, fatigue, pain, pain in the pharynx and larynx area, nosebleeds, cough, drowsiness, sleepiness and sinusitis can often occur.Swelling of the eyelids, discomfort, irritation, pain and dryness at the administration site, hypersensitivity, shortness of breath, nasal discomfort, nasal congestion and bronchospasm may occasionally occur.Rarely, palpitations, burning and discomfort at the site of administration, and swelling of the nose may occur.
Storage
Store Livocab direct combination at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C and protect it from light.After opening the bottle, the eye drops have a shelf life of one month and the nasal spray three months, but at most until the end of the stated expiry date.Keep the medicine out of the reach and reach of children.
Notes
Use Livocab direct combination at the first signs of allergic irritation of the conjunctiva or an allergic runny nose.The duration of application depends on the type and course of the symptoms.If you have used more Livocab direct combination than you should, please contact a doctor and drink plenty of water.If you forget to use it, do not use a double dose, but continue treatment as described in the dosage.
