Areas of application

Ben-u-ron is a pain reliever and antipyretic medicine used for the symptomatic treatment of mild to moderate pain and fever.It is suitable for adults and teenagers aged 12 and over.It should not be used for more than three days without medical or dental advice.It is important not to exceed the maximum daily dose and at the same time not to use other medicines containing paracetamol to avoid the risk of overdose.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The active ingredient in ben-u-ron is paracetamol with a dosage of 1000 mg per suppository.The preparation also contains hard fat and deoiled phospholipids from soybeans as excipients.It is important to note that the medicine contains deoiled phospholipids from soybeans, which may be important for people with allergies to soy.

Contraindications

Ben-u-ron must not be used if there is hypersensitivity to paracetamol, soy or any of the other ingredients.Caution is also advised in cases of chronic alcohol abuse, impaired liver or kidney function and Gilbert's syndrome.In these cases, the medicine should only be used after consulting a doctor.The application is not suitable for children under 12 years of age or with a body weight of less than 43 kg.

Dosage and application

The dosage of ben-u-ron depends on the patient's body weight and age.For adolescents aged 12 and over and adults with a body weight of 43 kg or more, the single dose is one suppository (1000 mg paracetamol), with the maximum daily dose not exceeding four suppositories (4000 mg paracetamol).The dosing interval should not be less than six hours.If possible, the suppositories are inserted deep into the anus after a bowel movement. They can be warmed in the hand or briefly dipped in warm water to improve lubrication.

Side effects

Like all medicines, ben-u-ron can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.Possible side effects include rare cases of mild increases in certain liver enzymes, allergic reactions such as skin rash or hives, and very rare cases of blood count changes or severe skin reactions.Deoiled phospholipids from soybeans can very rarely cause allergic reactions.

Special Notes

Long-term, high-dose, improper use of painkillers can cause headaches, which should not be treated with increased doses of the drug.Habitual use of painkillers can cause permanent kidney damage.When stopping abruptly after long-term high-dose use, headaches as well as fatigue, muscle pain, nervousness and vegetative symptoms may occur.The medicine must not be taken or administered together with alcohol.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

During pregnancy, ben-u-ron should only be used after careful consideration of the benefit-risk ratio.It should not be used for long periods of time, in high doses or in combination with other medicines, as the safety of use in these cases has not been established.Paracetamol passes into breast milk, but interrupting breastfeeding is usually not necessary as no adverse effects on the infant have been reported.

Storage

The medicine should be kept out of the reach of children and not stored above 25°C.It must not be used after the expiry date stated on the container.
