What is Mercurialis Perennis 10% and what is it used for?

Mercurialis Perennis 10% is an anthroposophical medicine that is used for purulent-inflammatory skin diseases.It serves to stimulate the healing processes in poorly healing, also festering, superficial and deeper inflammatory processes.These include, for example, fissures, skin tears, wounds, boils and eczema.

What do you need to consider before using Mercurialis Perennis 10?

Mercurialis Perennis 10% must not be used if you are hypersensitive to marshmallow, sesame oil or other components of the ointment.If redness, fever or suppuration occurs during use, you should consult a doctor.The ointment contains substances that can cause allergies if used over a long period of time.Therefore, pay particular attention to itching, redness and swelling of the surrounding skin and stop use if any such signs occur.

There is no sufficient experience with use in children under 1 year of age.During pregnancy and breastfeeding, the medicine should only be used after consulting a doctor.Interactions with other medicines are not known.

Wool wax and wool wax alcohols can trigger localized skin reactions.Butylhydroxytoluene, which is contained in wool wax alcohols, can cause skin irritation, eye irritation and mucous membrane irritation.

How to use Mercurialis Perennis 10?

Always apply Mercurialis Perennis 10% to the skin exactly as directed.The usual dose is 1-3 times daily on the affected areas.Avoid contact of the ointment with eyes and mucous membranes.Treatment of an acute illness should be completed after 2 weeks.In the case of chronic illnesses, consultation with the doctor is necessary.Do not use a double dose if you forget to use it.

What side effects are possible?

Like all medicines, Mercurialis Perennis 10% can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.Hypersensitivity reactions can occur very rarely.Sesame oil can rarely cause serious allergic reactions.In such cases, the medication should be discontinued and a doctor should be consulted.

What else is important?

Do not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the tube and carton.After opening the pack, the ointment has a shelf life of 6 months.Do not store the ointment above 30°C.

The composition of 10 g of Mercurialis Perennis 10% includes the active ingredient Mercurialis perennis 2b mother tincture as well as the ointment base with refined sesame oil, lanolin, yellow wax, lanolin alcohols (contain butylated hydroxytoluene), purified water and ethanol 15% (m/m).

Mercurialis Perennis 10% ointment is available in pack sizes of 25 g and 70 g.
