What is Neurop® and what is it used for?
Neurop® is a vitamin preparation that is used to treat neurological systemic diseases due to a proven deficiency of vitamin B1 and vitamin B6.No prescription is required for this product.
Areas of application
Neurop® is used for nerve diseases caused by a deficiency of vitamins B1 and B6.This concerns proven deficiencies of these vitamins.
Dosage and instructions for use
The following information applies unless your doctor has prescribed a different dosage.Please adhere to the application instructions so that Neurop® can work properly.At the start of treatment, 1 ml injection solution (equivalent to 1 ampoule) is injected once daily.For follow-up treatment, 1-2 ml (equivalent to 1-2 ampoules) are administered weekly.The injection is given intramuscularly (into the muscle) or intravenously (into a vein).The duration of use depends on the type and severity of the underlying disease.Please consult your treating doctor about this.Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of Neurop® is too strong or too weak.
Composition
The active ingredients in Neurop® are thiamine chloride hydrochloride (vitamin B1) with 100 mg per ampoule and pyridoxine hydrochloride (vitamin B6) with 50 mg per ampoule.The other ingredients are tartaric acid (Ph. Eur.) and water for injection purposes.
Mode of action
Pyridoxine (vitamin B6) controls various metabolic processes in the body, such as the production of protein components, messenger substances of the nervous system and red blood pigment.It also affects blood clotting.A deficiency of pyridoxine can lead to anemia or damage to nerves, skin or mucous membranes.Thiamine (vitamin B1) is essential for the functioning of the nervous system and plays an important role in carbohydrate metabolism.
Contraindications
Neurop® must not be used if you are hypersensitive to the ingredients.The medicine must not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding.If you have been prescribed this medicine despite a contraindication, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
Side effects
Possible side effects can include hypersensitivity, sweating, rapid pulse, skin reactions such as itching and hives, circulatory collapse with a drop in blood pressure, skin rash, shortness of breath and local nerve damage with abnormal sensations.These can occur particularly with long-term use or high doses.If you notice any discomfort or change during treatment, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Storage
Neurop® must be stored in the refrigerator and in the dark, for example in the outer box.Medicines should be kept out of the reach of children.Do not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the ampoule label.The expiry date refers to the last day of the month.
