Instructions for use of Espumisan Emulsion

Espumisan Emulsion is a gastrointestinal agent that acts as a defoamer and is helpful in diagnosis.The active ingredient simeticone causes the gas bubbles in the digestive tract to break down so that the released gases can be absorbed by the intestinal wall or removed through intestinal activity.

Areas of application

Espumisan Emulsion is used for the symptomatic treatment of gas-related gastrointestinal complaints such as flatulence, bloating and infant colic.It is also used to prepare for examinations in the abdominal area, such as X-rays, ultrasound and gastroscopy.It can also be used as a defoamer in cases of poisoning with detergents.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The active ingredient in Espumisan Emulsion is simeticone.Other ingredients include macrogol stearate 1500, glycerol monostearate, sorbic acid, hyprolose, sodium cyclamate, saccharin sodium, banana flavor and purified water.

Contraindications

Espumisan Emulsion must not be taken if you are allergic to simeticone or any of the other ingredients.

Dosage and application

The dosage of Espumisan Emulsion depends on age and the area of application.For infants, the dosage is 25 drops (1 ml) in the bottle or before/after breastfeeding.Children aged 1-6 years receive 25 drops 3-5 times a day, children aged 6-14 years receive 25-50 drops 3-5 times a day and teenagers aged 14 and over receive 50 drops 3-5 times a day.

To prepare for abdominal examinations, the emulsion is taken the day before the examination and on the morning of the examination day.As a defoamer in poisoning with dishwashing liquids, the dosage is 2.5-10 ml for children and 10-20 ml for adults, depending on the severity of the poisoning.

The emulsion is taken with or after meals and, if necessary, before going to bed.The bottle should be shaken well before use.

Side effects

To date, there are no known side effects associated with the use of Espumisan Emulsion.

Storage

Espumisan Emulsion should be kept out of the reach of children.After opening, the emulsion has a shelf life of 4 weeks.No special storage conditions are required.
