Instructions for use of Helixor A 1 mg

Helixor® A/-M/-P injection solution contains an extract of fresh mistletoe as the active ingredient in a ratio of 1:20.Helixor® A is manufactured from pine mistletoe, Helixor® M from apple tree mistletoe and Helixor® P from pine mistletoe.The amount of fresh plant material used for one ampoule is given in milligrams.Water for injections and sodium chloride in a ratio of 99.91:0.09 are used as extractants.

This anthroposophical medicine is used in adults to treat malignant and benign tumor diseases, as well as to prevent relapses after tumor operations and in defined precancerous lesions.No prescription is required for this product.

Application and dosage

Helixor® is administered by subcutaneous injections, if possible close to the tumor or metastases.If this is not possible, other intact skin areas such as the stomach, upper arm or thighs can also be used.The injections should not be made into inflamed skin areas or radiation areas.The usual dosage is 2 to 3 injections per week.Therapy usually begins with a low dose, which is gradually increased until the optimal individual dose is reached.

The optimal dose is determined based on various reactions, such as changes in subjective well-being, temperature reactions, immunological reactions and local inflammatory reactions at the injection site.For sensitive patients or patients with allergies, introductory therapy is started with a very low dose and gradually increased.

Side effects and precautions

Possible side effects include a slight increase in body temperature, localized inflammatory reactions around the injection site, and temporary mild swelling of regional lymph nodes.If there is a fever over 38 °C or major local reactions over 5 cm in diameter, the next injection should only be given after these symptoms have subsided and at a reduced strength or dose.

Helixor® must not be used in cases of hypersensitivity to mistletoe preparations, acute inflammatory or high fever diseases, chronic granulomatous diseases and autoimmune diseases with severe symptoms, as well as hyperthyroidism with palpitations.If used with other immune-active drugs, you should consult your doctor.

Storage

Keep medicines out of the reach of children.The medicine must not be used after the expiry date stated on each ampoule and box.The ampoules should be stored in the original packaging to protect the contents from light.Store in the refrigerator.

Helixor® is available in various pack sizes, including original packs of 8 ampoules of the same concentration, bulk packs of 50 ampoules and serial packs of 7 ampoules in increasing concentrations.The exact composition and amount of the active ingredient varies depending on the concentration of the ampoule.
