Instructions for use of Hepathrombin Gel 60,000 IU.

Hepathrombin gel 60,000 IU is a medicine that is used to support the treatment of acute swelling following blunt trauma and superficial phlebitis, provided this cannot be treated with compression.The active ingredient is heparin sodium, which is obtained from pig intestinal mucosa.No prescription is required for this product.

Important notes

Hepathrombin gel 60,000 IU must not be used if you are hypersensitive to heparin, levomenthol or any of the other ingredients of the gel.The gel should also not be used in the event of an acute or known allergic drop in the blood platelet count caused by heparin (thrombocytopenia type II) or in infants and small children up to 2 years of age.

Application

Apply Hepathrombin Gel 60,000 IU thinly and evenly to the affected area 2-3 times a day.The duration of use should not be longer than 10 days unless your doctor tells you otherwise.Avoid contact with open wounds or mucous membranes.

Side effects

Like all medicines, Hepathrombin Gel 60,000 IU can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.Possible side effects include allergic reactions on the skin, such as redness and itching, as well as hypersensitivity reactions caused by levomenthol.In rare cases, heparin-induced thrombocytopenia type II may occur.

Composition

The active ingredient is heparin sodium (60,000 IU per 100 g gel).The other ingredients are allantoin, carbomer 980, lemon oil, dexpanthenol, 2-propanol, pine needle oil, levomenthol, sodium edetate, poly(oxyethylene)-6-glycerol mono/dialkanoate (C8-C10), polysorbate 80, sorbitol solution 70%, trometamol and purified water.

Storage

Keep the medicine out of the reach and reach of children and do not use it after the expiry date stated on the carton or tube.The expiry date refers to the last day of the month.This medicine does not require any special storage conditions.After opening, the gel should be used within 2 months.
