Linola Akut 0.5% is a cream containing cortisone that is used to treat mild skin diseases.The active ingredient hydrocortisone has an anti-inflammatory effect and relieves itching, redness and swelling.No prescription is required for this product.

Areas of application

The cream is used for skin inflammation, mild forms of skin allergies and sunburn.It is suitable for children over 6 years and adults.

Mode of action

Hydrocortisone, the active ingredient in Linola Akut 0.5%, is a corticosteroid that works similarly to the body's own hormone cortisone.It reduces the body's excessive defense mechanisms, especially in the case of allergies, and has an anti-inflammatory effect on the skin.This helps eliminate itching, redness, swelling and pustules.

Ingredients

100 g Linola Akut 0.5% cream contains 0.5 g hydrocortisone.The other ingredients are benzyl alcohol, citric acid (E 330), macrogol glycerol laurate 300 (Ph. Eur.), Macrogol stearate 300 and 1500, sodium citrate dihydrate (E 331), sodium edetate (Ph. Eur.), thick paraffin, propylene glycol, stearic acid (Ph. Eur.) (E 570) and purified water.

Application

The cream is applied to the affected skin areas 1 to 2 times daily in the morning and/or evening.For children, one application per day is usually sufficient.The cream should be applied in a thin layer and massaged in lightly.It should not be used for longer than 14 days unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor.

Contraindications

Linola Akut 0.5% must not be used in case of hypersensitivity to one of the ingredients, in virus-related skin diseases such as herpes simplex, herpes zoster (shingles) and chickenpox, in skin reactions after vaccinations, in rosacea-like (perioral) dermatitis, acne and rosacea, in fungal infections and bacterial skin infections, under occlusive conditions (under plasters, diapers, etc.) as well as in the body folds, in the eye and on the eyelid,and during the first trimester of pregnancy.Children under 6 years of age must not use the cream.

Side effects

Like all medicines, Linola Akut 0.5% can have side effects, although not everyone gets them.Possible side effects include skin atrophy (thinning of the skin), changes in skin pigmentation, hypertrichosis (increased hair), telangiectasia (permanent dilation of small skin vessels), striae (stripes of skin due to damage to the elastic fibers) and pustule formation (steroid acne).Short-term skin irritations such as burning and redness are also possible.In the case of long-term or large-area use or under occlusive bandages, attention should be paid to possible absorption of the active ingredient into the body and corresponding side effects.

Storage

The cream should be kept out of the reach of children and not stored above 30 °C.After opening, the cream should be used within 12 months.The expiry date refers to the last day of the month.
