Instructions for use for PHOSPHONORM Hard capsules, 1X100 pcs
Product features
Phosphonorm hard capsules are a medicine that is used to bind phosphate in the intestine. The active ingredient in this preparation is aluminum chloride hydroxide complex (9:8:19) 23 H2O.Each hard capsule contains 300 mg of this active ingredient. The other ingredients include stearic acid, magnesium stearate, colloidal silicon dioxide, titanium dioxide (E 171), gelatin, sodium dodecyl sulfate, macrogol 2000 and purified water.
Area of application
Phosphonorm hard capsules are used to reduce intestinal phosphate absorption in patients with renal insufficiency and elevated serum phosphate levels, particularly in patients on a dialysis program. No prescription is required for this product.
Dosage and application
The dosage of Phosphonorm hard capsules depends on the serum phosphate level. The recommended dose is 3-6 hard capsules per day, which corresponds to an amount of 900 mg to 1800 mg aluminum chloride hydroxide complex (9:8:19) 23 H2O.For children from the age of three, the dosage should be reduced according to body weight. The hard capsules are taken whole with sufficient liquid throughout the day with meals. The duration of use depends on how long an elevated serum phosphate level requires the doctor to prescribe the drug.
Storage
Phosphonorm hard capsules should be kept out of the reach of children. The medicine must not be used after the expiry date stated on the blister and outer carton. It should not be stored above 25ºC and should be kept in the original container to protect the contents from moisture.Medicines should never be disposed of via wastewater.Ask your pharmacy about proper disposal to protect the environment.
Contraindications
Phosphonorm hard capsules must not be taken if you are hypersensitive to the active ingredient or any of the other ingredients, in the case of hypophosphatemia, stool constipation, colon stenosis, in infants and children up to the age of three or during pregnancy.
Patient information
When using Phosphonorm hard capsules, regular checks of aluminum blood levels are necessary. In addition, neurological examinations and possibly bone examinations should be carried out at regular intervals. To adjust the dose, the phosphate levels should be checked regularly. No studies have been conducted on the effects on the ability to drive and use machines.
