What are Phosphonorm hard capsules and what are they used for?

Phosphonorm hard capsules are a medicine that is used to bind phosphate in the intestine.It is used to reduce the absorption of phosphate from the intestine, especially in patients with renal insufficiency and elevated serum phosphate levels who are on a dialysis program.

How are Phosphonorm hard capsules used?

Always take Phosphonorm hard capsules exactly as described in the package leaflet or after consulting your doctor or pharmacist.The dosage depends on the level of serum phosphate levels.The recommended dose is 3-6 hard capsules per day, which corresponds to an amount of 900 mg to 1800 mg aluminum chloride hydroxide complex (9:8:19) 23 H2O.For children over the age of three, the dosage should be reduced according to body weight.The hard capsules are taken whole with sufficient liquid throughout the day with meals.

Use should continue for as long as an elevated serum phosphate level requires your doctor to prescribe Phosphonorm.Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you think the effect is too strong or too weak.

How should Phosphonorm hard capsules be stored?

Keep Phosphonorm hard capsules out of the reach of children and do not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the blister and carton.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.Do not store the medicine above 25ºC and keep it in the original container to protect the contents from moisture.

Never dispose of medicines via wastewater.Ask your pharmacy how to throw away medicine when you no longer use it.No prescription is required for this product.

What Phosphonorm hard capsules contain

The active ingredient in Phosphonorm hard capsules is aluminum chloride hydroxide complex (9:8:19) 23 H2O.One hard capsule contains 300 mg of this active ingredient.The other ingredients are stearic acid, magnesium stearate (Ph. Eur.), colloidal silicon dioxide, titanium dioxide (E 171), gelatin, sodium dodecyl sulfate, macrogol 20000 and purified water.
