Virudermin Gel is an over-the-counter medicine with the active ingredient zinc sulfate.It is used to treat cold sores.No prescription is required for this product.
What is Virudermin and what is it used for?
Virudermin is a gel for use on the skin that serves as an astringent for the early treatment of herpes diseases of the lip (herpes labialis) and the adjacent skin areas (herpes perioralis).Herpes viruses that cause cold sores are often transmitted in childhood and remain in the body for life.If the immune system is weakened, the viruses can become active and become noticeable through tingling on the lips.Using Virudermin at the first signs can prevent the formation of blisters.
What do you need to consider before using Virudermin?
Virudermin must not be used if you are hypersensitive to zinc sulfate or any of the other ingredients in the gel.To date, there are no known interactions with other medicines.However, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking other medicines.There is no evidence of risks during pregnancy or breastfeeding, but still consult your doctor or pharmacist.Benzalkonium chloride, a component of the gel, may cause skin irritation.
How to use Virudermin?
Always apply Virudermin exactly according to the instructions in the package leaflet.Unless otherwise prescribed, apply a small amount of the gel thinly to the affected areas 3 to 4 times a day.It is important that you use Virudermin immediately at the first signs of illness.If you are unsure or if the effect is too strong or too weak, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.Symptoms of poisoning are not known.
What side effects are possible?
So far there are no known side effects.If you still notice any side effects, please inform your doctor or pharmacist.
How to store Virudermin?
Keep Virudermin out of the reach of children and do not use the pack after the printed expiry date.
What Virudermin contains
The active ingredient of Virudermin is zinc sulfate 7 H2O.1 g gel contains 10.0 mg zinc sulfate 7 H2O.The other ingredients are hymetellosis, benzalkonium chloride and purified water.

Virudermin is a colorless, clear gel and is available in 5 g tubes.
