Zovirax® DUO Cream is an innovative treatment for cold sores.This cream contains two active ingredients that work together to stop viruses from reproducing and fight inflammation.This can prevent cold sores from forming or shorten healing time.No prescription is required for this product.

Areas of application

Zovirax® DUO Cream is used to treat early signs and symptoms of cold sores.These include tingling, itching or redness.The cream helps reduce the risk of the cold sore reaching the vesicle stage.It can also speed up healing if a blister does develop.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The active ingredients of Zovirax® DUO Cream are acyclovir and hydrocortisone.One gram of cream contains 50 mg of acyclovir and 10 mg of hydrocortisone.The other ingredients are thick paraffin, white petroleum jelly, isopropyl myristate, sodium dodecyl sulfate, cetostearyl alcohol, poloxamer 188, propylene glycol, citric acid monohydrate, sodium hydroxide, hydrochloric acid and purified water.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity reactions can occur to all medicines.If you have already had an allergic reaction to any of the active ingredients or other ingredients of the medicine, you must not use Zovirax® DUO cream.

Dosage and application

Zovirax® DUO Cream should be used early to achieve maximum effectiveness.Apply the cream to the affected areas five times a day, approximately every three to four hours.Wash your hands before and after use to avoid worsening the cold sore or spreading the infection.The application should not last longer than five days.

Patient information

Apply Zovirax® DUO Cream only to the affected areas of skin on your lips or face.Don't touch an ulcer more than necessary to avoid spreading the infection to other parts of your body or your eyes.The medicine is not suitable for use in the eyes, mouth, nose or genitals.It also should not be used to treat genital herpes.If your immune system is not working properly, you should not use this medicine.Children under 12 years should not use the cream.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Before using Zovirax® DUO Cream during pregnancy or breastfeeding, ask your doctor for advice.The medicine should not be used unless the potential benefits outweigh the possible risks.

Notes

Zovirax® DUO cream contains cetostearyl alcohol and propylene glycol.Wash your hands after application.Do not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the package.The cream is available from pharmacies without a prescription.
