Description of the product

Mg 5-Longoral is a mineral preparation that is used in cases of proven magnesium deficiency, especially if it causes neuromuscular disorders.No prescription is required for this product.

Active ingredients and ingredients

Each chewable tablet contains 1803 mg magnesium DL-hydrogenaspartate 4-water, which corresponds to 121.5 mg magnesium ions.In addition, the preparation contains the following excipients: anhydrous citric acid, calcium salts of fatty acids (C16-C24), glycerol (mono/di/tri) alkanoate (C12-C18), glycerol 85%, sodium cyclamate, saccharin sodium, highly disperse silicon dioxide, 197.5 mg sorbitol, 0.016 BE carbohydrates and lemon aroma.

Area of application

Mg 5-Longoral is used in cases of proven magnesium deficiency when it causes neuromuscular disorders.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be taken if you are hypersensitive to magnesium bis (hydrogenDL-aspartate) 4H2O or any of the other ingredients.The preparation should also not be used in cases of severe kidney dysfunction or conduction disorders in the heart (AV block).

Dosage

The dosage depends on the degree of magnesium deficiency.Adults and adolescents typically take one chewable tablet three times a day, for a total of 364.5 mg of magnesium.Children aged six and over receive half a chewable tablet three times a day, which corresponds to 182.25 mg magnesium.The intake should be continued until the magnesium deficiency is corrected.

Intake

The chewable tablets should be chewed and, if necessary, taken with some liquid before meals.

Patient information

Particular caution is required in cases of renal impairment.Long-term use in high doses should be avoided.If you take larger amounts over the long term, check the magnesium level in your blood regularly, especially if you have impaired kidney function.

The preparation can be taken safely during pregnancy and breastfeeding.However, before taking any medication, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice.

Side effects

At high doses, loose stools may occur, but these are harmless.If diarrhea occurs, the daily dose should be reduced or the preparation should be temporarily discontinued.With high doses and long-term use, symptoms of fatigue may occur, which may indicate an increased serum magnesium level.

Notes

If you have diarrhea, you should temporarily stop taking it.If there is no longer any diarrhea, the intake can be continued with a reduced amount.If you take larger amounts over the long term, check the magnesium level in your blood regularly, especially if you have impaired kidney function.

Storage

The medicine should not be stored above 25°C.Please do not use Mg 5-Longoral if you notice yellow or brown discoloration of the chewable tablets.
