Area of application

This gastrointestinal remedy is used for indigestion with flatulence.It is also used to replace digestive enzymes in digestive disorders associated with increased gas accumulation in the gastrointestinal tract.These disorders can be caused by inadequate or missing pancreatic function.

Active ingredients / ingredients / ingredients

The product contains porcine pancreas powder with the following enzyme activities: 15000 PhEur-E triacylglycerol lipase, 11000 PhEur-E amylase and 900 PhEur-E proteases.Additionally 100 mg simeticone is included.The excipients include cellulose, microcrystalline, quinoline yellow, copovidone, croscarmellose, sodium salt, diethyl phthalate, iron (III) oxide, yellow, hypromellose, indigo carmine, 150 mg lactose, 0.0125 BE carbohydrates, macrogol 20000, macrogol 6000, methacrylic acid-methyl methacrylate copolymer (1:1), polysorbate80, povidone, talc, titanium dioxide and tricalcium phosphate.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be taken if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to simeticone, pancreatin from porcine pancreas or any of the other ingredients of the medicine.

Dosage

Always take the medicine exactly as directed.Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.The usual dose depends on the severity of the pancreatic indigestion.As a general guideline dose, a lipase content of 20,000 - 40,000 Ph.-Eur. units per meal is recommended.Unless otherwise prescribed, the dose is 1 to 2 tablets per meal, corresponding to 15,000 - 30,000 Ph.-Eur. units per meal.

The required dose can also be significantly higher.The dose should only be increased under medical supervision and should be aimed at improving the symptoms of the disease.A daily enzyme dose of 15,000 - 20,000 Ph.-Eur. units of lipase per kilogram of body weight should not be exceeded.Due to the simeticone content, a dose of 3 x 2 tablets should not be exceeded.If there is a higher need for pancreatic enzymes, preparations without simeticone are available.

Particularly in patients with cystic fibrosis, the dose should not exceed the enzyme dose necessary for adequate fat absorption, taking into account the quantity and composition of meals.

The duration of use depends on the course of the disease and is determined by your doctor.The duration of application is not limited.Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect is too strong or too weak.

Overdoses with the drug are not known.If you still experience symptoms due to an overdose, tell your doctor.Do not take a double dose if you forget to take the previous dose.Please continue with the therapy as recommended without increasing the dose yourself.If in doubt, please ask your doctor for advice.

Do not interrupt the treatment or stop taking it prematurely without consulting your doctor, otherwise the desired effect may not be achieved or the clinical picture could worsen again.

Intake

The tablets are taken whole with meals and plenty of liquid.Make sure that the tablets are swallowed whole, as their effectiveness is reduced when chewed and the enzymes they contain can damage the mucous membrane when released into the oral cavity.

Patient information

Particular caution when taking the drug is required in cases of intestinal obstruction, which is a known complication in patients with cystic fibrosis.If symptoms similar to intestinal obstruction are present, the possibility of intestinal strictures should also be taken into account.The medicine contains active enzymes that, when released into the oral cavity, e.g.B. by chewing, which can lead to damage to the mucous membrane.It is therefore important to ensure that the medicine is swallowed whole.

The medicine should not be used in acute pancreatitis or acute attacks of chronic pancreatitis.However, in the decline phase during the dietary build-up, administration occasionally makes sense if there is evidence of ongoing or ongoing functional impairment.

No special precautions are required regarding the ability to drive and use machines.

In the case of cystic fibrosis, the amount of intake necessary for adequate fat digestion should not be exceeded.An increase in the amount taken should only be done under medical supervision and should be aimed at improving the symptoms.A daily intake of 15,000 to 20,000 units of the lipase contained per kg of body weight should not be exceeded.If you have cystic fibrosis, have your urine checked regularly (risk of uric acid stone formation).
