The preparation is used externally and is used for local treatment. The active ingredient etofenamate is one of the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs that have anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving effects. It is used for the supportive symptomatic treatment of pain in acute strains, sprains or bruises in the extremity area caused by blunt trauma, such as sports injuries. It can also be used for osteoarthritis of the knee joint to relieve pain in the soft tissues near the joint such as bursa, tendons, ligaments and joint capsules.

No prescription is required for this product.

Do not use the product for longer than three days without medical advice.

Active ingredients / ingredients / ingredients

The gel contains 50 mg etofenamate per gram. The following excipients are also included: alpha-[Hexadecyl,(Z)-octadec-9-en-1-yl]-w-hydroxypoly(oxyethylene)-8, carbomer 50000, isopropyl alcohol, macrogol 400, sodium hydroxide and purified water.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be used if you are allergic to etofenamate, the main metabolite flufenamic acid or any of the other ingredients. It should also not be used if you have had previous allergic reactions to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or acetylsalicylic acid, such as asthma, shortness of breath, runny nose, swelling or hives.Avoid use on open injuries, inflammations, infections of the skin, eczema, eyes, lips or mucous membranes. Its use is also not permitted in the last trimester of pregnancy or in children and adolescents.

Dosage

Always use the medicine exactly as described or after consulting your doctor or pharmacist.Unless otherwise prescribed, you should apply the gel to the painful area three times a day.The amount should be about one 10 cm long strand, which is approximately 3 g of gel (150 mg etofenamate). The maximum daily dose is 9 g gel, equivalent to 450 mg etofenamate.

The duration of treatment is determined by the doctor. As a rule, one application over a week is sufficient. The therapeutic benefit of prolonged use has not been proven.Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if the effect is too strong or too weak.

If the recommended dosage is exceeded, the gel should be removed and washed off with water. If you use significantly too large quantities or accidentally ingest them, you should notify your doctor.

Intake

The gel is intended for use on the skin only and must not be ingested.Apply a thin layer to the affected areas of the body and rub in lightly.Allow the gel to dry for a few minutes before applying a bandage.Avoid using an occlusive dressing.Wash your hands after application unless these are the areas to be treated.

Patient information

If you have asthma, hay fever, swollen nasal mucous membranes or chronic obstructive respiratory diseases, the product should only be used under medical supervision.Make sure that children do not come into contact with the treated skin areas.Avoid direct sunlight and tanning beds during treatment and for two weeks afterward.Large areas of skin and prolonged periods of use may cause systemic side effects. The gel may cause discoloration or changes on polished furniture or plastics, so you should wash hands after rubbing or avoid contact with such items.

Pregnancy

In the first and second trimester of pregnancy you should only use the medicine after consulting your doctor. Its use is not permitted in the last trimester of pregnancy as there is an increased risk of complications for mother and child.

Since small amounts of etofenamate pass into breast milk, prolonged use during breastfeeding should be avoided and the daily dose should not be exceeded.Breastfeeding women should not use the medicine in the breast area.Wash your hands after use to prevent the infant from coming into contact with the medicine.
