Description

The active ingredient etofenamate belongs to the group of cortisone-free remedies for rheumatism.Etofenamate has anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties.The medicine is used externally to support the symptomatic treatment of pain in acute strains, sprains or bruises in the extremities, for example in sports injuries.It can also be used on soft tissues near the joints such as bursa, tendons, ligaments and joint capsules in cases of osteoarthritis of the knee joint.

Application

The medicine is intended for external use.An approximately 10 cm long strand of gel should be applied thinly to the affected areas of the body three times a day and rubbed in lightly.Before applying a bandage, the gel should dry on the skin for a few minutes.The use of an occlusive dressing is not recommended.The duration of treatment is decided by the doctor.For blunt injuries, one week of use is usually sufficient.For rheumatic diseases, the treatment period is usually three to four weeks.

Ingredients

The active ingredient is etofenamate.The other ingredients are alpha-hexadecyl/(Z)-octadec-9-en-1-yl]-omega-hydroxypoly(oxyethylene)-8, macrogol 400, sodium hydroxide, carbomer 940, propan-2-ol, propylene glycol and purified water.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be used if you are allergic to etofenamate, flufenamic acid or any of the other ingredients.It should not be used on open injuries, inflammation or infections of the skin, as well as on eczema or mucous membranes.The product must also not be used in the last trimester of pregnancy or in children and adolescents.

Warnings and precautions

The product should only be used under certain precautions and under direct medical supervision if you suffer from asthma, hay fever, nasal mucous membrane swelling or chronic obstructive respiratory diseases.Direct sunlight and visits to the solarium should be avoided during treatment and for two weeks afterwards.Care should be taken to ensure that children do not come into contact with the areas of skin rubbed with the medicine.The gel can cause discoloration or changes to the surface of polished furniture or plastics.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

In the first and second trimester of pregnancy, the medicine should only be used after consulting your doctor.It must not be used in the last trimester of pregnancy.If you are breastfeeding, prolonged use should be avoided and the daily dose should not be exceeded.Breastfeeding women should not use the medicine in the breast area.

Notes

No prescription is required for this product.Care should be taken to ensure that children do not allow their hands to come into contact with the areas of skin rubbed with the medicine.The gel must not get into the eyes.Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the pack.
