The vitamin B12-Loges® injection solution is used for a vitamin B12 deficiency that cannot be compensated for through diet.Such a deficiency can manifest itself in various clinical pictures, such as hyperchromic macrocytic megaloblastic anemia, also known as perniciosa or Biermer anemia, as well as funicular spinal diseases that affect the spinal cord.A detectable vitamin B12 deficiency can occur after years of malnutrition and malnutrition, for example due to a strict vegetarian diet.Malabsorption, i.e. insufficient absorption of vitamin B12 in the intestine, can also be the cause.This can be caused by insufficient production of intrinsic factor, diseases in the end section of the ileum such as sprue, fish tapeworm infestation or blind loop syndrome.In addition, congenital vitamin B12 transport disorders can play a role.

The vitamin B12-Loges® injection solution contains the active ingredient cyanocobalamin in an amount of 1000 μg per ampoule (2 ml).Cyanocobalamin belongs to the group of substances collectively known as vitamin B12.The solution also contains sodium chloride, water for injections and hydrochloric acid 10% for pH adjustment.

Contraindications

If you are known to be hypersensitive to any of the ingredients, this product should not be used.

Dosage

The vitamin B12-Loges® injection solution should always be used according to the instructions in the package leaflet.At the start of treatment, 1 ml of the solution, equivalent to 500 μg of cyanocobalamin, is administered twice a week for the first few weeks after diagnosis.If a vitamin B12 absorption disorder in the intestine is proven, a dose of 100 μg cyanocobalamin is then given once a month.The solution is usually administered intramuscularly, but can also be given slowly intravenously or subcutaneously.Opened ampoules should be discarded.The use is intended for longer periods, although the exact duration should be agreed with a doctor.
