Vitamin B12 1000 µg inject Jenapharm is a vitamin B preparation for the treatment of anemia.It is used for a vitamin B12 deficiency that cannot be compensated for through diet.This deficiency can manifest itself in various clinical pictures, such as hyperchromic macrocytic megaloblastic anemia, also known as perniciosa, Biermer's anemia or Addison's anemia, as well as funicular spinal disease, which represents spinal cord damage.

A vitamin B12 deficiency confirmed by laboratory diagnosis can have various causes.This includes years of malnutrition and malnutrition, for example through a strict vegetarian diet.Malabsorption, i.e. insufficient absorption of vitamin B12 in the intestine, can also have various causes.These include insufficient production of intrinsic factor, a protein that is formed in the stomach lining and is required for the absorption of vitamin B12.Diseases in the end section of the ileum, such as sprue, fish tapeworm infestation or blind loop syndrome, a change in the course of the intestines after stomach surgery, can also lead to a vitamin B12 deficiency.In addition, congenital vitamin B12 transport disorders can play a role.

Vitamin B12 1000 µg inject Jenapharm must not be used if you are allergic to cyanocobalamin or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Vitamin B12 1000 µg inject Jenapharm.There are no data on use in children and adolescents.

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines.So far no interactions are known.Due to the instability of vitamin B12, the vitamin can lose its effectiveness if other drugs are added.

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.The recommended daily vitamin B12 intake during pregnancy and breastfeeding is 4 micrograms.According to previous experience, higher application doses have no adverse effects on the unborn child.Vitamin B12 is excreted in breast milk.

No special precautions are required regarding the ability to drive and use machines.

Vitamin B12 1000 µg inject Jenapharm contains sodium, but less than 1 mmol (23 mg) sodium per ampoule, i.e. it is almost “sodium-free”".

Application

Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or exactly as discussed with your doctor or pharmacist.Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.At the start of treatment, 1 ampoule of vitamin B12 1000 µg inject Jenapharm (corresponding to 1000 micrograms of cyanocobalamin) is administered twice a week in the first few weeks after diagnosis.If there is evidence of a vitamin B12 absorption disorder in the intestine, 100 micrograms of cyanocobalamin are then administered once a month.Parenteral medications should be inspected visually before use.Only clear solutions without particles may be used.Vitamin B12 1000 µg inject Jenapharm is usually administered intramuscularly (injected into a muscle).It can also be given slowly intravenously or subcutaneously (injected into a vein or under the skin).Vitamin B12 1000 µg inject Jenapharm is intended for long-term use.Please consult your doctor about this.

Poisoning or overdose symptoms are not known.If you interrupt treatment, you endanger the success of the treatment.If you experience unpleasant side effects, please talk to your doctor about further treatment.

Side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.Very rarely (may affect up to 1 in 10,000 people) anaphylactic or anaphylactoid reactions, acne, eczematous and urticarial drug reactions may occur.

If you notice any side effects, contact your doctor or pharmacist.This also applies to side effects that are not listed in this leaflet.

Storage

Keep this medicine out of the reach and reach of children.You must not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the label and carton after “Use by:” or “Use by:”.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month. Store the ampoule in the outer carton to protect the contents from light.Do not throw away medicines via wastewater or household waste.Ask your pharmacist how to throw away medicine when you no longer use it.In doing so, you contribute to protecting the environment.

Composition

The active ingredient is: cyanocobalamin.One ampoule with 1 ml solution for injection contains 1000 micrograms cyanocobalamin.The other ingredients are: sodium chloride, hydrochloric acid, water for injections as a solvent.

1 ml OPC-brown glass ampoule with clear, red solution for injection.Vitamin B12 1000 µg inject Jenapharm is available in packs with 5 ampoules of 1 ml solution for injection and 10 ampoules of 1 ml solution for injection.Not all pack sizes may be marketed.
