Zinc Verla OTC 20 mg is a mineral preparation and is used in cases of proven zinc deficiency as well as in therapy with penicillamine and other complexing agents. The recommended dosage for adults is 1 tablet daily before a meal. The film-coated tablet should be taken unchewed with sufficient liquid, about 1 hour before meals. The duration of intake depends on the need and the success of the treatment. When taking the medicine, certain foods should be avoided as they may impair the absorption of zinc. The medicine must not be taken if there is hypersensitivity to zinc D-gluconate or any of the other ingredients. Side effects are rare but may include nausea or vomiting. If side effects occur, the medicine should be taken temporarily with meals. Pregnant and breastfeeding women may take the medicine according to the recommended dose.
