Siccaprotect eye drops are a tear substitute for treating dryness in the eyes and for moisturising when wearing hard contact lenses. The drops contain the active ingredients dexpanthenol and polyvinyl alcohol. Dexpanthenol regenerates and heals damaged skin and mucous membranes and compensates for the lack of pantothenic acid. Polyvinyl alcohol increases the viscosity of the drops and provides long-lasting moisturisation of the eye surface. Siccaprotect is used for the symptomatic treatment of dehydration of the cornea and conjunctiva due to tear secretion disorders. It is also used for rewetting in cases of poor eyelid closure and when wearing hard contact lenses. Siccaprotect must not be used if you are allergic to dexpanthenol, polyvinyl alcohol or other components of the medicine or if you wear soft contact lenses. If pregnant or breastfeeding, consult your doctor before use. The recommended dosage for adults is one drop up to six times daily, spread throughout the day. The duration of use depends on the nature of the complaints and is determined by the doctor. Possible side effects are hypersensitivity reactions, burning pain and increased lacrimation. There are no known interactions with other medicines. Siccaprotect eye drops should be stored at room temperature and used within six weeks after opening.
