Summary: Acimethine 500 mg film-coated tablets contain the active substance methionine and are used as a urinary acidifying substance. They have a bacteriostatic effect in urinary tract infections and are also used for prevention in patients with neurogenic bladder dysfunction. In addition, they optimise the effect of antibiotics with optimum action in acidic urine (pH 4-6) and prevent the formation of phosphate stones (struvite, carbonatapatite, brushite). The recommended dose is generally 1-2 film-coated tablets 3 times a day. The duration of therapy is determined by the doctor. The medicinal product should not be used in children under 12 years of age. There are no reports of overdose symptoms and use during pregnancy or lactation should only be done after careful risk-benefit assessment.
