Application

This medicine is used to loosen mucus in respiratory diseases that are accompanied by thick mucus.It is used to treat acute and chronic diseases of the bronchi and lungs in which thick mucus is present.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The medicine contains 30 mg ambroxol hydrochloride and 27.36 mg ambroxol as active ingredients.Excipients include calcium hydrogen phosphate 2-water, carboxymethyl starch, sodium salt type A, lactose 1-water, magnesium stearate, corn starch and colloidal silicon dioxide.

Contraindications

You must not take this medicine if you are hypersensitive or allergic to ambroxol or any of the other ingredients of the medicine.

Dosage

The following dosage instructions apply unless your doctor has given you other instructions.Please follow the instructions for use so that the medicine can work properly.If you are unsure, please ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Children aged 6 to 12 years should take half a tablet 2 to 3 times a day, which corresponds to a daily dose of 30-45 mg ambroxol hydrochloride.Adolescents aged 12 and over and adults take one tablet 3 times a day for the first 2-3 days, which corresponds to a daily dose of 90 mg ambroxol hydrochloride.Then reduce your intake to one tablet twice a day, corresponding to 60 mg ambroxol hydrochloride per day.An increase in effectiveness can be achieved by taking 60 mg of ambroxol hydrochloride twice a day, i.e. 120 mg per day.

If you suffer from impaired kidney function or severe liver disease, you must increase the interval between doses or reduce the dose.

Do not take the medicine for more than 4-5 days without medical advice.If after this time there is no improvement or your condition worsens, you should consult a doctor.

Serious symptoms of poisoning have not been observed in the event of an overdose.However, short-term restlessness and diarrhea may occur.In extreme overdoses, increased salivation, gagging, vomiting and a drop in blood pressure can occur.If you have taken too much of the medicine, please contact a doctor.Acute measures such as vomiting and gastric lavage should only be considered in cases of extreme overdose.

If you forget to take a dose, do not take a double dose.Simply continue taking it as usual next time.

Intake

Take the tablets whole after meals with enough liquid.The expectorant effect of the drug is improved by adequate fluid intake.

Patient information

Take special care when taking the medicine if you suffer from impaired kidney function or severe liver disease.In this case, you may only take the medicine at longer intervals or in a reduced dose.

If you suffer from a rare disease of the bronchi that is associated with excessive accumulation of secretions, you should only take the medicine after consulting your doctor in order to avoid possible accumulation of secretions.

The medicine is not suitable for children under 6 years due to the high active ingredient content.Juice and drops with a lower active ingredient content are available for this age group.

Very rarely, serious skin reactions such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome and Lyell syndrome can occur.If skin and mucous membrane changes occur, you should seek medical advice immediately and stop using Ambroxol.

No special precautions are required regarding the ability to drive and use machines.

Pregnancy

To date there is no sufficient experience with humans.You should therefore only take the medicine during pregnancy, especially during the first trimester, as directed by your doctor and only after your doctor has carefully weighed up the benefits and risks.

The active ingredient passes into the animal's mother's milk.Since there is currently no sufficient experience with humans, you should only take the medicine while breastfeeding if your doctor orders it.

In the case of severe kidney dysfunction, the maintenance dose should be reduced accordingly or the interval between applications should be extended.Other dosage forms are available for this.
