Mode of action

The active ingredient ambroxol promotes mucus dissolution in respiratory diseases with thick mucus.It stimulates the production of thin mucus in the respiratory tract and thereby liquefies the bronchial mucus.It also activates the fine cilia on the surface of the bronchial mucosa, making it easier for the liquefied mucus to be coughed up and removed.

Area of application

This medicine is used for the expectorant treatment of acute and chronic diseases of the bronchi and lungs with thick mucus.No prescription is required for this product.

Active ingredients and ingredients

Each 2 ml solution (corresponding to 40 drops) contains 30 mg ambroxol hydrochloride as the active ingredient.The other ingredients are: citric acid 1-water, sodium hydroxide, purified water, methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate, propyl 4-hydroxybenzoate, raspberry flavor, sucrose and ethanol.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be taken if you are hypersensitive to ambroxol hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients.

Dosage

Always take the product exactly as directed.Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

Children up to 2 years: 1/2 ml solution, equivalent to 10 drops, are taken twice daily (corresponding to 15 mg ambroxol hydrochloride/day).

Children aged 2 to 5 years: 1/2 ml solution, equivalent to 10 drops 3 times a day, is taken 3 times a day (corresponding to 22.5 mg ambroxol hydrochloride/day).

Children aged 6 to 12 years: 1 ml solution is taken 2-3 times a day, corresponding to 20 drops 2-3 times (corresponding to 30-45 mg ambroxol hydrochloride/day).

Adults and adolescents from 12 years of age: As a rule, during the first 2-3 days, 2 ml of solution, corresponding to 40 drops (corresponding to 90 mg ambroxol hydrochloride/day), are taken 3 times a day, after which 2 ml solution, corresponding to 40 drops (corresponding to 60 mg ambroxol hydrochloride/day), are taken twice daily.If necessary, the dosage can be increased to 60 mg ambroxol hydrochloride twice daily (equivalent to 120 mg ambroxol hydrochloride/day).

Duration of treatment: If your symptoms worsen or there is no improvement after 4-5 days, you should consult a doctor.Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of the medicine is too strong or too weak.

Overdose: Serious symptoms of poisoning have not been observed in the event of an overdose of Ambroxol.In the event of accidental or intentional extreme overdose, increased salivation, gagging, vomiting and a drop in blood pressure may occur.In this case, contact a doctor.

Forgotten dose: If you forget to take the medicine or have taken too little, please continue taking the product at the next time.

Discontinuation of therapy: Do not discontinue treatment with the medicine without consulting your doctor.

Intake

The medicine is taken diluted in liquid (e.g. water, tea or juice) after meals.

Patient information

The drug should be used with particular caution in patients with impaired kidney or liver function.In the case of severe kidney dysfunction, the maintenance dose should be reduced accordingly or the interval between applications should be extended.In the case of some rare diseases of the bronchi that are associated with excessive accumulation of secretions, the medicine should only be used under medical supervision.

Driving and using machines: No special precautions are required.

Children: The medicine may only be used in children under 2 years of age on medical advice.Keep the medicine out of the reach and reach of children.

Pregnancy

Since there is currently no sufficient experience with humans, you should only take the medicine during pregnancy and breastfeeding if your doctor orders it.

Notes

The expectorant effect of the drug is supported by fluid intake.Therefore, please make sure you drink enough fluids during the treatment.Ambroxol should not be taken for longer than 4-5 days without medical advice.
