Isotonic saline solution 0.9% Braun infusion solution

The isotonic saline solution 0.9% Braun infusion solution contains the active ingredient sodium chloride.It is used to replace fluids and salt in cases of dehydration, sodium and fluid deficiency, increased pH and reduced chloride levels as well as chloride losses.It is also used for short-term replenishment of the vascular system, as a carrier solution for electrolyte concentrates and compatible medications, as well as for wound treatment and moistening cloths and bandages.

The isotonic saline solution 0.9% Braun infusion solution is used to treat dehydration and sodium deficiency, to replenish the vascular system, as a carrier solution for other medications and for wound treatment.

Active ingredient and ingredients

The active ingredient is sodium chloride.1000 ml of the infusion solution contains 9.0 g sodium chloride.The solution consists of water for injections and contains sodium ions and chloride ions.

Application and dosage

The solution is applied intravenously or used for rinsing and moistening.The dosage depends on your individual fluid and electrolyte needs.The maximum dose is 40 ml per kg body weight per day, usually up to 5 ml per kg body weight per hour is administered.In exceptional cases the solution can be administered more quickly.

Side effects

Possible side effects include increased levels of sodium and chloride in the blood.If side effects occur, a doctor or pharmacist should be consulted.

Storage

The solution should be kept out of the reach of children.No special storage conditions are required.The expiry date on the container and outer carton should be observed.After first opening, the solution should be used immediately or stored at 2 to 8°C within 24 hours.
