Description of the preparation

This preparation contains the active ingredient cyanocobalamin, which belongs to the group of vitamin B12 preparations.Vitamin B12 is essential for the human body and plays an important role in the formation of red blood cells and the function of the nervous system.

Areas of application

The preparation is used for a vitamin B12 deficiency that cannot be compensated for through diet.Such a deficiency can have various causes, including insufficient absorption of vitamin B12 in the intestine, impaired production of intrinsic factor, diseases of the small intestine or a congenital transport disorder of vitamin B12.

Vitamin B12 deficiency can present with a variety of symptoms, including hyperchromic macrocytic megaloblastic anemia, also known as perniciosa or Biermer anemia, and spinal funicular disease, which can lead to damage to the spinal cord.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The preparation contains 1 mg cyanocobalamin as an active ingredient.The excipients included are sodium chloride, water for injections and 23 mg total sodium ion.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be used if you are hypersensitive to cyanocobalamin or any of the other ingredients of the product.

Dosage

The recommended dose at the start of treatment is 1 ml (1 ampoule) once or twice a week, corresponding to 1000 - 2000 µg cyanocobalamin per week.If a vitamin B12 absorption disorder in the intestine is proven, 100 µg cyanocobalamin is then administered once a month.

Poisoning or overdose symptoms are not known.A double dose should not be used if the previous dose has been forgotten.
