Directions for use of the article Vitamin B12 Injektopas 1.000 µg solution for injection Important information: - Vitamin B12 Injektopas 1000 µg, solution for injection - Active substance: cyanocobalamin - Indications: For vitamin B12 deficiency that cannot be corrected by dietary means. - For risks and side effects, read the package leaflet and ask your doctor or pharmacist. Product characteristics: - Vitamin B12-Injektopas® 1000 µg is a vitamin preparation. - Indications: Vitamin B12-Injektopas® 1000 µg is used for vitamin B12 deficiency that cannot be corrected by diet. Vitamin B12 deficiency can manifest itself in the following clinical pictures: Hyperchromic macrocytic megaloblastic anaemia (perniciosa, Biermer's anaemia, Addison's anaemia; these are maturation disorders of red blood cells). Funicular spinal disease (spinal cord damage). - In the case of laboratory-diagnostically confirmed vitamin B12 deficiency, this can occur in the case of: Years of malnutrition (e.g. due to a strict vegetarian diet). Malabsorption (insufficient absorption of vitamin B12 in the intestine) due to insufficient production of intrinsic factor, diseases in the end section of the ileum (part of the small intestine), fish tapeworm infestation or blind-loop syndrome (change in the course of the intestine after stomach surgery). Congenital vitamin B12 transport disorders. Directions for use: - Always use Vitamin B12 Injektopas® 1000 µg exactly as directed in the package leaflet. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist. - Usual dose: At the beginning of treatment, 1 ml of vitamin B12-Injektopas® 1000 µg is administered twice a week in the first weeks after diagnosis. If vitamin B12 absorption disorder in the intestine is proven, 100 µg of cyanocobalamin is then administered once a month. - Method of administration: Vitamin B12-Injektopas® 1000 µg is usually administered intramuscularly. However, it can also be given slowly intravenously or subcutaneously. - Duration of use: Vitamin B12-Injektopas® 1000 µg is intended for prolonged use. Please consult your doctor about this. - Storage: Keep this medicine out of the reach of children and do not store it above 25 °C. Indications: - Vitamin B12 deficiency, with blood formation disorders and anaemia and/or disorders of the nervous system, such as spinal cord damage. Dosage and directions for use: - All ages: 1 ampoule 2 times a week regardless of time of day. - The total dose should not be exceeded without consulting a doctor or pharmacist. - The application should only be carried out by qualified personnel. - The duration of application depends on the type of symptoms and/or the course of the disease. - In the event of an overdose, you should consult your doctor. - Adhere to the conscientious dosage especially for infants, small children and elderly people. Contraindications: - The medicinal product must not be used if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to cyanocobalamin or any of the other ingredients of the preparation. - Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before use during pregnancy and breast-feeding. Side effects: - So far, no overdose symptoms are known. - If you notice any disturbance or change in your condition during treatment, contact your doctor or pharmacist. Composition: - Active substance: cyanocobalamin 1 mg. - Excipients: Sodium chloride, water for injections. Important information: - There may be medicinal products with which there are interactions. Before starting treatment with a new medicine, inform your doctor or pharmacist about any medicines you are already taking. - Keep the medicine away from heat and in the dark (e.g. in the outer carton). - The medicine is intended for single use only after opening/preparation.
