Instructions for use for FREKA CID Ointment, 20 g

Freka-Cid 10% ointment contains the active ingredient povidone-iodine and is used for repeated time-limited application as an antiseptic for damaged skin, such as pressure ulcers, lower leg ulcers, superficial wounds and burns, as well as infected and superinfected skin diseases. The ointment should be applied to the affected skin area once or several times a day. If necessary, a bandage can be applied afterwards. The application should be continued until the symptoms have subsided. If symptoms persist or recur after treatment has been completed, a doctor should be consulted. The ointment should not be used for longer than 5 days unless recommended by a doctor. Possible side effects include hypersensitivity reactions, skin swelling, hyperthyroidism and impaired kidney function. The ointment should not be used in case of hypersensitivity to the ingredients, hyperthyroidism, thyroid disease, dermatitis herpetiformis Duhring or recently completed radioiodine therapy. During pregnancy and breastfeeding, the ointment should only be used under medical supervision. The exact dosage and duration of use should be discussed with a doctor or pharmacist. The medicinal product should be kept out of the reach of children and should not be used after the expiry date printed on it. The ointment should not be disposed of in waste water.
