Freka Cid ointment (20 g)

General information

Freka-Cid® 10% ointment contains the active ingredient povidone-iodine and is used as an antiseptic for damaged skin.This includes applications for pressure sores, leg ulcers, superficial wounds, burns, and infected and superinfected skin conditions.No prescription is required for this product.

Area of application

The ointment is used for repeated, time-limited use on damaged skin.These include pressure ulcers, leg ulcers, superficial wounds, burns, and infected and superinfected skin diseases.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The ointment contains 100 mg povidone-iodine and 10 mg iodine as active ingredients.Excipients include Macrogol 400, Macrogol 4000 and purified water.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be used in cases of hyperthyroidism or other thyroid diseases, in chronic skin inflammation dermatitis herpetiformis Duhring, during and after radiation therapy with iodine and in cases of hypersensitivity to the active ingredient or one of the other ingredients.

Dosage

The ointment should be applied evenly to the damaged area one to several times a day.The brown color of the ointment indicates its effectiveness.If discoloration occurs, the ointment should be reapplied.Use should be continued as long as there are signs of inflammation.If there is no improvement after several days of use or if symptoms recur, a doctor should be consulted.

Application

The ointment is intended exclusively for external use.It is applied evenly to the damaged area and can be covered with a bandage if necessary.The ointment is fat-free and washable.It can generally be removed with warm water and soap.In stubborn cases, ammonia or fixing salt can help.

Patient information

Particular caution is required if you have thyroid disease or goiter.In such cases, the ointment should only be used over a long period of time and over large areas as directed by the doctor.Elderly people and newborns should only use the ointment as directed by a doctor and under control of thyroid function.The preparation has no influence on the ability to drive or use machines.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

During pregnancy and breastfeeding, the ointment should only be used on the express instructions of the doctor and in an extremely limited manner.A check of the child's thyroid function is necessary.Ingestion of the ointment by the infant through the mouth must be avoided.

When the brown color of the ointment subsides, the area of skin to be treated should be coated with fresh ointment.After use in infants and small children, thyroid function should be checked by a doctor.
