-18% Thilo Tears eye gel (3x10 g)

Instructions for use for Thilo Tears eye gel (3x10 g)

Description of the preparation

This preparation is a sterile gel that serves as a replacement for tears. It is used for dry eyes or insufficient lubrication of the surface of the eye.The active ingredient in this gel is carbomer. No prescription is required for this product.

Mode of action

If the surface of the eye is insufficiently moistened, the tear film cannot adequately lubricate the eyes. This can cause eye irritation from blinking.A lack of mucin is often the cause, which can lead to a special form of dry eye that is paradoxically accompanied by tear formation. The eye gel forms a moistening film on the surface of the eye, which enables irritation-free gliding when blinking and protects the surface of the eye from drying out.The gel can also be used by an ophthalmologist during a contact lens examination of the back of the eye by dripping a few drops onto the contact lens and placing it on the cornea and conjunctiva after anesthesia.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The preparation contains 3 mg carbomer as an active ingredient. The excipients include sodium hydroxide, sorbitol, purified water and 0.05 mg of benzalkonium chloride.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be used if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to carbomer or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

Dosage and application

Always use the product exactly according to the instructions. Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the usual dose is one drop into the conjunctival sac 4 times a day or as needed. The medicine is suitable for long-term use.For use during a contact lens examination carried out by your doctor, a few drops are dripped into the haptic part of the contact lens and this is placed on the cornea and conjunctiva after anesthesia.

When treating dry eye, the duration of use depends on the condition of the disease. Please ask your doctor about this.If you use more than you should, rinse the eye with lukewarm water. No side effects are to be expected.Do not reapply until it is time for the next scheduled application. If you forget to use it, continue therapy at the same dosage at the next scheduled time.Do not use a double dose.If you stop using it, you must expect that the typical symptoms of dry eye will soon appear again.

Application to the eye

Wash your hands before applying the gel.Open the tube without touching the tube tip.Hold the tube between your thumb and forefinger and carefully approach the eye.Tilt your head back slightly, look up and pull your lower eyelid away with your index finger.Hold the tube vertically over the eye and press it lightly with your fingers until a drop comes off without the tip of the tube coming into contact with the eye or the edge of the eyelid.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using this product.Only use the product to drip into your eye(s).If you experience eye pain, changes in vision, eye irritation, persistent eye redness, or if the condition worsens or persists, you should stop use and consult your doctor. When used with other medicines, please also read the “Interactions” category. After use, excess eye gel should be removed from the eyelashes or eyelids to avoid possible crust formation due to drying carbomer.

Until the gel is evenly distributed on the surface of the eye, slight blurred vision may occur for a short time after using the product. You should only drive a car, work without a secure footing or operate machines again once this impairment has subsided.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Before using any medicines, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice. If used correctly, you can use the eye gel during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Notes

Depending on the severity of the condition, relief from symptoms lasts around 3-4 hours. The medicine should not be used while wearing contact lenses.
