Description

This medicine is a calcium-vitamin D3 preparation that is used in cases of proven calcium and vitamin D3 deficiency and to support the treatment of osteoporosis.No prescription is required for this product.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The effervescent tablets contain 1500 mg calcium carbonate, 600 mg calcium ion, 900 mg carbonate ion and 400 IE colecalciferol, which corresponds to 10 µg.In addition, various excipients are included: alpha-tocopherol, malic acid, citric acid (anhydrous), maltodextrin, sodium ascorbate, sodium carbonate, sodium cyclamate, sodium bicarbonate, saccharin sodium salt, sucrose, silicon dioxide (highly disperse), modified starch, medium-chain triglycerides, total carbohydrates (0.01 BE), total sodium ion (52 mg), lemon flavor,Sorbitol, lemon oil, mannitol, dextrin, D-glucono-1,5-lactone and gum arabic.

Application

The effervescent tablet is dissolved in a glass of water and drunk immediately.The recommended dose for adults, including the elderly, is one effervescent tablet twice daily, equivalent to 1200 mg calcium and 800 IE vitamin D3.No dose adjustment is necessary in cases of liver dysfunction.Patients with severe kidney problems should not take this medicine.The duration of use is determined by the doctor.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be used if you are allergic to calcium carbonate, vitamin D or any of the other ingredients.Its use is also not permitted for diseases that result in an increased calcium content in the blood or increased calcium excretion in the urine, kidney stones or a vitamin D overdose (hypervitaminosis D).

Patient information

If used for a long time, the calcium level in the blood must be checked.Renal function should be monitored by measurements of serum creatinine, particularly in elderly patients and those taking concomitant cardiac glycosides or diuretics.Patients with a pronounced tendency to stone formation should also be monitored.If calcium concentrations in the blood are increased or there are signs of renal impairment, the dose should be reduced or treatment stopped.

In case of kidney dysfunction, vitamin D should be used carefully and with monitoring of calcium and phosphate levels.Patients with severe renal impairment should receive other vitamin D supplements.The preparation should be used with caution in patients with sarcoidosis (Boeck's disease) and immobilization osteoporosis.

If other vitamin D preparations are used at the same time, the dose of 400 IE vitamin D per tablet should be taken into account.Additional doses of calcium or vitamin D should only be given under close medical supervision.Calcium and alkaline intake from other sources should be considered before ingestion to avoid milk-alkaline syndrome.

This medicine is not for use in children.There are no data on the influence of this medicine on the ability to drive, but an influence is unlikely.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

During pregnancy, the medicine can be used for calcium and vitamin D deficiency, but the daily intake should not be more than 1500 mg of calcium and 600 IE of vitamin D.Overdoses should be avoided as increased calcium concentrations in the blood can have harmful effects on the developing fetus.The medicine can be used during breastfeeding as calcium and vitamin D are excreted in breast milk.
