Octeniderm colorless solution

Octeniderm colorless solution is an alcoholic skin antiseptic with a lasting effect of at least 48 hours.It is particularly suitable for use before inserting central venous catheters (CVCs) and for caring for catheter entry points.It can also be used for skin disinfection before preoperative procedures, injections, blood samples and punctures.The product has a broad spectrum of antiseptic activity, which has a bactericidal, fungicidal and limited virucidal effect.No prescription is required for this product.

Areas of application

Octeniderm colorless solution can be used before invasive procedures with a high risk of infection, such as catheterization of blood vessels, blood and liquor collection, injections, punctures, excisions, cannulations, biopsies or for suture care.If no special hand disinfectant is available, Octeniderm colorless solution is also suitable for hygienic and surgical hand disinfection.

Active ingredients / ingredients / ingredients

Octeniderm colorless solution contains the following active ingredients: Octenidine dihydrochloride 0.1 g, 1-propanol (Ph.Eur.) 30.0 g and 2-propanol (Ph.Eur.) 45.0 g.The other ingredient is purified water.

Contraindications

If you are known to be hypersensitive to any of the ingredients mentioned, the product should not be used.

Dosage

Before all invasive procedures, the affected skin area should be sprayed or applied with a soaked swab.It must be ensured that the skin is completely wetted and that the exposure times are observed.Excess preparation should be absorbed to avoid puddling.For preoperative skin antisepsis, it is recommended to mechanically shorten the hair on the affected skin area and carry out preoperative washing.Only skin marking pens with sufficient alcohol resistance should be used to avoid smudging of skin markings.When gluing incision films, ensure that they dry sufficiently so as not to impair the adhesion.

Notes

Octeniderm colorless solution is intended for external use on intact skin.Medicines should be kept out of the reach of children.Due to the high alcohol content, the product should not be used on premature babies and newborns with immature skin.The product is flammable and should not be brought into contact with flames or switched on electrical heat sources.If you accidentally come into contact with your eyes, you should immediately rinse with plenty of water while keeping your eyelids open for several minutes.Avoid inhaling fumes.If used before glucose testing, the preparation should be allowed to dry thoroughly to avoid any impairment of the measurement results.Severe discoloration may occur upon contact with products based on PVP-iodine.Octeniderm Colorless solution should not be combined with colored products.Do not use medicine after the expiry date has expired.The shelf life after opening is 18 months.
