CORDES® BPO is a medicine available in different concentrations: 3%, 5% and 10%.The active ingredient benzoyl peroxide is used to treat endogenous acne (acne vulgaris). CORDES® BPO 3% is particularly suitable for the facial area and sensitive skin, while CORDES® BPO 10% is used for insensitive skin, chest and back as well as for patients who do not respond to lower concentrations.The product contains propylene glycol.No prescription is required for this product.

Area of application

CORDES BPO is an anti-acne medicine that is applied directly to the skin.It is particularly effective for endogenous acne caused by the body's own metabolism.Regular use can lead to skin improvement after just a few weeks. CORDES BPO works in two ways: It loosens the top layer of calluses in the affected skin areas and removes calluses so that pores remain free and excess sebum and pus can drain away.It also removes the breeding ground for acne bacteria, prevents inflammation and promotes the healing of pimples.In contrast to antibiotics, the use of benzoyl peroxide does not lead to resistance.

CORDES BPO is available in three different strengths: 3% for sensitive facial skin, 5% for normal skin and 10% for insensitive skin as well as for the chest and back.

Mode of action

CORDES BPO effectively combats pimples and blackheads and prevents the formation of new pimples and pustules.It has both antibacterial and peeling properties.

The ingredients of CORDES BPO 3% are: 30 mg benzoyl peroxide, carbomer, sodium hydroxide, 100 mg propylene glycol and purified water.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be used if you are known to have an allergic reaction to the active ingredient benzoyl peroxide or to any of the other ingredients.

Dosage

For sensitive skin, CORDES BPO should initially be applied once a day in the evening, later up to twice a day until the acne has improved.Before application, the skin should be thoroughly cleansed and dried.The gel is applied thinly to the affected areas without touching the healthy skin.After application, hands should be washed thoroughly as the gel has a bleaching effect on fabrics.

Patient information

Before using the product you should speak to your doctor or pharmacist.Caution is advised in patients with a predisposition to allergic eczema (atopics) when used on dry (sebostatic) skin.The medicine must not be applied to mucous membranes or in the corners of the mouth, nose and eyes.Because of the high sensitization rate, benzoyl peroxide should not be used on previously damaged (eroded) skin.No special precautions are required regarding the ability to drive or use machines.

Pregnancy

The medicine should only be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding after careful advice from your doctor.The product should not be used in the last month of pregnancy.There is no information available about the transfer into breast milk after external treatment during pregnancy.There is also no information about the concentration in breast milk after external (external) treatment during lactation (the time of milk production).For these reasons, a strict assessment of the benefit/risk ratio by the treating physician and particular caution when using benzoyl peroxide are required not only during pregnancy, but also during the lactation phase (breastfeeding).There is currently no evidence of harm to the unborn child.
