This medicine is intended for the treatment of fungal infections of the vagina.It is used for vaginal inflammation and discharge caused by fungi and yeasts, mostly Candida, as well as for superinfections with bacteria sensitive to clotrimazole.No prescription is required for this product.

The active ingredient in this medicine is clotrimazole.Each gram of the vaginal cream contains 20 mg of clotrimazole.In addition, the cream contains the following excipients: (RS)-2-octyldodecan-1-ol, cetyl palmitate, cetostearyl alcohol, sodium citrate-2-water, polysorbate 60, sorbitan stearate, purified water and benzyl alcohol.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be used if you are hypersensitive or allergic to clotrimazole or any of the other ingredients.

Dosage

The vaginal cream should always be used exactly as directed.If you are unsure, please ask your doctor or pharmacist.The usual dose is about 5 g of the cream once daily in the evening for three consecutive days.If the external signs of the disease have not completely subsided after the three-day treatment, further treatment may only be carried out after consultation with the treating doctor.

No cases of overdose have been reported to date.If you forget to use the vaginal cream, do not use a double dose.Follow the instructions for use, otherwise the vaginal cream will not work properly.

Intake

The vaginal cream is best inserted as deeply as possible into the vagina while lying on your back with your legs slightly drawn up.The treatment should preferably not be carried out during menstruation or should be completed before it begins.

Patient information

Particular caution is required when using the vaginal cream for the first time if you have a yeast infection, as vaginal discharge and inflammation can have various causes.These can only be diagnosed by a doctor.Even if the disease has occurred more than four times in the past 12 months, you should only use the vaginal cream as prescribed by a doctor.No special precautions are required when driving or using machines.

Pregnancy

Before using any medicines during pregnancy or breastfeeding, ask your doctor or pharmacy for advice.During pregnancy, treatment with vaginal cream should be carried out by a doctor or with vaginal tablets without an applicator.If you are breastfeeding, you can use the vaginal cream as directed by your doctor.

Notes

The treatment should preferably not be carried out during menstruation or should be completed before it begins.During treatment, you should only use intimate hygiene products after consulting your doctor, as a reduction in the effectiveness of the drug cannot be ruled out.If the partner's labia and adjacent areas are simultaneously infected or the glans and foreskin are inflamed due to a fungal infection, the partner should receive additional local treatment using the forms of application intended for this purpose.
