Vomacur® 70 mg suppositories
Vomacur® 70 mg suppositories is a medicine against nausea and vomiting from the group of H1 antihistamines.It is used to prevent and treat motion sickness, dizziness, nausea and vomiting.Dimenhydrinate is not suitable for the sole treatment of nausea and vomiting following drug treatment for cancer (cytostatic therapy).No prescription is required for this product.
Mode of action
The active ingredient dimenhydrinate reduces nausea and vomiting and prevents motion sickness.It counteracts the excess of histamine released by binding to the H1 receptors.

Vomacur® 70 mg suppositories contain the active ingredient dimenhydrinate.One suppository contains 70 mg dimenhydrinate.Hard fat is also included as an additional ingredient.
Area of application
Vomacur® 70 mg suppositories are used to prevent and treat motion sickness, dizziness, nausea and vomiting.It is suitable for use in children and adolescents over 14 kg body weight.
Contraindications
Vomacur® 70 mg suppositories must not be used in cases of hypersensitivity to dimenhydrinate, other antihistamines or any of the other ingredients, in acute asthma attacks, glaucoma (angle-closure glaucoma), adrenal gland tumor (pheochromocytoma), disorder of the production of blood pigment (porphyria), enlargement of the prostate gland (prostatic hyperplasia) with residual urine formation and in case ofSeizures (epilepsy, eclampsia).
Dosage
The dosage of dimenhydrinate should be based on the patient's body weight.For small and light children, a single dose of the lowest dosage in the relevant weight or age group may be enough to relieve the symptoms.The usual dose is 1 suppository once a day for children weighing 15 to 25 kg, 1 suppository twice a day for children weighing 25 to 40 kg and 1 suppository 2 times a day for children weighing 40 kg or more and adolescents aged 14 and over 1 suppository 2 to 3 times a day.Children aged 6 to 14 years receive a maximum of 150 mg dimenhydrinate per day, adolescents aged 14 and over receive a maximum of 400 mg dimenhydrinate per day.The medicine is only intended for short-term use.If symptoms persist, a doctor should be consulted.
Intake
The suppositories should be inserted deep into the rectum.To prevent motion sickness, the first dose is given approx. 1/2 - 1 hour before the start of the journey.To treat nausea and vomiting, doses are given at regular intervals throughout the day.
Patient information
Particular caution in use is required in cases of impaired liver function, cardiac arrhythmias, potassium or magnesium deficiency, slow heartbeat, certain heart diseases, simultaneous use of drugs that prolong the QT-interval in the EKG or lead to hypokalemia, chronic breathing difficulties and asthma, narrowing at the outlet of the stomach and children under 6 years of age.In these cases, the medicine may only be used after consulting your doctor.Drowsiness, memory problems and reduced ability to concentrate can have an adverse effect on the ability to drive or work with machines.
Pregnancy
Before use, ask your doctor or pharmacy for advice.Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.Dimenhydrinate can cause premature labor.The safety of use during pregnancy has not been proven.You may only use the medicine after consulting your doctor.Tell your doctor if you are breast-feeding.Dimenhydrinate passes into breast milk.The safety of use during breastfeeding has not been proven.Since undesirable effects, such as increased restlessness, on the breast-fed child cannot be ruled out, you should either not use the medicine while breast-feeding or stop breast-feeding while it is being used.
Notes
Keep out of the reach of children.Vomacur® 70 mg suppositories may only be used in children with a body weight of 15 kg or more (from 6 years).After using dimenhydrinate, skin sensitivity to light may occur, so avoid direct sunlight.
Application
Overdose with dimenhydrinate can be life-threatening, especially in children under 3 years of age, and must therefore be avoided at all costs in this age group.No more than 5 mg/kg body weight may be given within 24 hours.This medicine (suppositories with a strength of 70 mg) must not be used in children weighing less than 14 kg.
