Heparin ratiopharm® 180,000 gel

Heparin-ratiopharm® Gel is a medicine that inhibits blood clotting.It is used as a supportive treatment for superficial phlebitis if it cannot be treated with external pressure (compression).However, the primary treatment for superficial phlebitis of the lower extremities is compression treatment.No prescription is required for this product.

Areas of application

The gel is used for acute swelling following blunt injuries such as bruises, strains, sprains, bruises and bruises.It can also be used for superficial phlebitis if it cannot be treated with a pressure bandage.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The active ingredient in Heparin-ratiopharm® Gel is porcine heparin sodium with a concentration of 180,000 IE per gel.The excipients include carbomer 980, isopropyl alcohol, lavender oil, PEG castor oil (hydrogenated), propylene glycol, trometamol, purified water and citronella oil.The gel also contains fragrances such as benzyl benzoate, citral, citronellol, coumarin, eugenol, farnesol, geraniol, isoeugenol, D-limonene and linalool.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity reactions can occur to all drugs, so the medication should be discontinued immediately if such reactions occur.The gel must not be used if an allergy to the active ingredient or one of the other ingredients is known.It must also not be used for bleeding disorders.

Dosage and application

Apply the gel evenly to the affected area 2 to 3 times daily.In the case of phlebitis, the gel should not be massaged in, but rather applied liberally and rubbed in lightly.Due to the alcohol content, the gel should not be applied to mucous membranes, open or inflamed skin areas.Avoid contact with eyes as this may cause a burning sensation.

Duration of application

In the case of acute swelling following blunt injuries, use should last up to 10 days.For superficial phlebitis, the recommended duration of use is 1-2 weeks.If the symptoms have not improved after 14 days of regular use or if symptoms reoccur after treatment has been completed, please consult your doctor.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

During pregnancy and breastfeeding, medications should only be taken after consultation with your doctor or pharmacist.Heparin cannot enter the child's circulation and does not pass into breast milk.There are no reports that topical use of heparin during pregnancy causes birth defects.However, at very high local doses (more than 160,000 IU), an increased tendency to bleeding may occur.During childbirth, spinal anesthesia is absolutely prohibited for pregnant women who are being treated with anticoagulants.

Contains propylene glycol, macrogol glycerol hydroxystearate and fragrances with benzyl benzoate, citral, citronellol, coumarin, eugenol, farnesol, geraniol, isoeugenol, D-limonene and linalool.Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack or outer packaging.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.
