Paracetamol ratiopharm 1000 mg suppositories contain the active ingredient paracetamol.It is a painkiller and antipyretic medicine used for the symptomatic treatment of mild to moderate pain and fever.This medicine is suitable for adolescents aged 12 and over and adults weighing more than 43 kg.

Each suppository contains 1000 mg of paracetamol as the active ingredient.The other ingredients are 3-sn-phosphatidylcholine (from soybeans), hard fat and highly disperse silicon dioxide.

Area of application

The suppositories are used to treat mild to moderate pain and fever.They are suitable for adults and teenagers aged 12 and over with a body weight of more than 43 kg.

Dosage

The medicine should always be used exactly as directed.The dosage depends on body weight and age, usually with 10 to 15 mg/kg body weight as a single dose, up to a maximum of 60 mg/kg body weight as a total daily dose.The dosing interval should not be less than 6 hours.

If symptoms last longer than 3 days, a doctor should be consulted.The recommended dose for adolescents aged 12 and over and adults with a body weight of at least 43 kg is: 1 suppository (equivalent to 1000 mg paracetamol) as a single dose and a maximum of 4 suppositories (equivalent to 4000 mg paracetamol) as a maximum daily dose.

The medicine should not be used for longer than 3 days without medical or dental advice.

Intake

If possible, the suppository is inserted deep into the anus after a bowel movement.To improve lubrication, the suppository can be warmed in your hand or briefly dipped in warm water.

Patient information

Particular caution is required when using the drug if you are a chronic alcoholic, suffer from impaired liver function or have a previously damaged kidney.If your symptoms worsen or do not improve after 3 days, or if you have a high fever, you should see a doctor.

To prevent the risk of overdose, it should be ensured that other medicines used at the same time do not contain paracetamol.Long-term, high-dose, improper use of painkillers can cause headaches, which should not be treated with increased doses of the drug.

The medicine has no influence on the ability to drive or use machines.Nevertheless, caution should always be exercised after using a painkiller.

Before using any medicines, you should ask your doctor or pharmacy for advice.The preparation should only be used during pregnancy after careful consideration of the benefit-risk ratio.Paracetamol passes into breast milk, but no adverse effects on the infant have been reported.
