Thuringian arnica tincture is a herbal medicinal product for external use. It consists of a tincture of arnica flowers in a ratio of 1:10. The tincture is used for various consequences of injuries and accidents, such as bruises, sprains, contusions, bruises, oedema as a result of a broken bone, rheumatic muscle and joint complaints, furunculosis and inflammation as a result of insect bites and superficial phlebitis. It contains 66% alcohol by volume and should therefore not be taken. The package leaflet should be read carefully before use. The dosage and instructions for use state that adolescents aged 12 years and over and adults should apply a sufficient amount of the tincture to the affected parts of the body several times a day. The application should be made after consulting a doctor and under his or her instructions. The duration of use should not exceed 1 to 2 weeks. The tincture must not be used if there is hypersensitivity to arnica and other composite plants or if open wounds are present. Children under 12 years of age should only use the medicinal product after consulting a doctor. Possible side effects are hypersensitivity reactions of the skin, such as skin rash. If side effects occur, treatment should be discontinued immediately and a doctor consulted. It should be stored tightly closed and protected from light. The expiry date should be observed. Thuringian arnica tincture contains 1 ml tincture of arnica flowers per 1 ml liquid and ethanol 70 % (V/V) as the extracting agent. It is available in original packs containing 50 ml of tincture.
