Each film-coated tablet contains 250 mg St. John's wort dry extract (3.5-6:1), extracted with ethanol 60% (V/V).The preparation also contains the following excipients: calcium hydrogen phosphate-2-water, carboxymethyl starch sodium, cellulose powder, Eudragit E 100, hypromellose, lactose-1-water, macrogol 6000, magnesium stearate, highly disperse silicon dioxide, stearic acid, talc and titanium dioxide.

Contraindications

Hyperforat® 250 mg must not be taken if other medicines containing ciclosporin, tacrolimus, sirolimus, proteinase inhibitors, non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors, imatinib or irinotecan are being used at the same time.The medicine should also not be used if you are known to be allergic to one of the components, if the skin is hypersensitive to light or if you have severe, temporary depressive disorders.

Dosage

Adults and children over 12 years usually take 1 film-coated tablet twice a day.An improvement in symptoms can often be expected after 4-6 weeks.If symptoms persist for more than 4 weeks or worsen, a doctor should be consulted.Overdoses have not yet been reported, but patients with significant overdoses should be protected from sunlight for 1-2 weeks.

Intake

The film-coated tablets are taken in the morning and evening during or after eating with a little liquid.

Patient information

Particular caution is required when taking other medicines.Women taking oral contraceptives should consider additional methods of contraception as the effectiveness of these agents may be reduced.

Pregnancy

Notes

Eyes and skin should be protected from the sun's rays while taking it.Strong UV-radiation, such as long sunbathing or visits to solariums, should be avoided.The dosage can be adjusted if necessary, and the onset of effect is noticeable after 2-4 weeks.
