The medicine Hyperforat 250 mg Tablets contains the active substance St. John's wort dry extract and is used to treat mild, temporary depressive disorders. It must not be used in cases of hypersensitivity to the ingredients, known photosensitivity of the skin, severe temporary depressive disorders and during pregnancy and breast-feeding. Use in children under 12 years of age should be avoided. The recommended dosage for adolescents aged 12 years and over and adults is 1 tablet 2-3 times daily. The tablets should be taken with liquid, regardless of the meal. The intake should be regular and the medicine should not be used for longer than 4 weeks, unless a doctor recommends longer use. In case of overdose, sunburn-like skin reactions may occur. Possible side effects include increased photosensitivity of the skin, gastrointestinal complaints, fatigue and restlessness. People with an allergy to ascorbic acid (vitamin C) should use the medicine carefully. Precautions should also be observed in case of intolerance to lactose and while taking other medicines. The medicinal product should be stored away from heat.
