Information for use with the article Alpha Lipoic Acid Aaa 600 Mg Injection Vials: This medicinal product is a neuropathy preparation containing the active substance alpha lipoic acid. Alpha lipoic acid is a substance produced in the body which influences certain metabolic functions and protects nerve cells from reactive degradation products. It is used to treat paraesthesia caused by diabetic nerve damage (polyneuropathy). Alpha-lipoic acid AAA 600 mg ready-to-use infusion cannot be used in cases of hypersensitivity to alpha-lipoic acid or to any of the components of the medicinal product. Particular caution is advised as allergic reactions and hypersensitivity reactions may occur. Alpha-lipoic acid may also interact with certain medicines and foods. The dosage is 1 vial of alpha-lipoic acid AAA 600 mg ready-to-use infusion per day in the initial phase of treatment over a period of 2-4 weeks. The infusion is given slowly over at least 30 minutes. For further treatment, 300-600 mg of alpha-lipoic acid can be taken daily in capsule, tablet or coated tablet form. Possible side effects are reactions at the injection site, allergic reactions, changes in the sense of taste, headaches and blood clotting disorders. If side effects occur, the medicine should not be used again and a doctor should be contacted. The medicinal product should not be used in children and adolescents, during pregnancy and breast-feeding and in the case of certain diseases and medication.
