EBENOL® 0.25% Cream

This cream is suitable for the relief of mild inflammatory skin diseases such as sunburn and insect bites.It contains low-dose hydrocortisone, is fragrance-free and is particularly suitable for dry skin.The product is suitable for adults and children aged 6 and over.

Area of application

Ebenol® 0.25% cream is used to relieve inflammatory reactions in the skin that are triggered, for example, by sunburn or insect bites.It is suitable for the treatment of mild inflammatory skin diseases.

Mode of action

The cream contains hydrocortisone, which belongs to the group of glucocorticoids.Hydrocortisone is produced synthetically and corresponds to the body's own hormone from the adrenal cortex, cortisol.It has anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic effects.

Ebenol® 0.25% cream contains the following active ingredients and excipients: 2.5 mg hydrocortisone, (RS)-2-octyldodecan-1-ol, dimeticon 350, disodium edetate 2-water, glycerol 85%, glycerol monostearate, oleyl oleate, triglycerides, medium chain, trometamol, water, purified, potassium sorbate.

Contraindications

The product must not be used in cases of known hypersensitivity to one of the ingredients, specific skin diseases such as syphilis or tuberculosis, viral infections such as chickenpox, herpes simplex or herpes zoster, vaccination reactions, fungal infections (mycoses), bacterial skin infections, acne vulgaris, steroid acne, skin inflammation near the mouth (perioral dermatitis), inflammatory redness of the face (rosacea) and allergy to hydrocortisone.

Dosage

The cream is applied to the affected skin areas once or twice a day.It is suitable for long-term use, although a treatment period of four weeks should not be exceeded.

Intake

The cream is applied to the skin.The area of skin to be treated should not be larger than 1/10 of the body surface.It must not be used on open wounds.

Patient information

Particular caution is required when using it on the face, especially around the eyes, on sore skin areas, in skin folds, around skin ulcers, in the genital and anal areas.The cream should not be used on open wounds or on an area larger than 1/10 of the body surface.Particular care should be taken with children as they have a larger body surface area in relation to their body weight.Children up to the age of 6 may only be treated as prescribed by a doctor.Caution is necessary for older people as the barrier performance of the outer layer of skin is weaker in old age.

Pregnancy

Medical advice should be sought before use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.The preparation may only be used after strict indications from the doctor.During pregnancy, especially in the first three months, and while breastfeeding, the medicine should not be used over large areas or for a long time.With long-term use, growth disorders within the uterus cannot be ruled out.If treated at the end of pregnancy, the fetus is at risk of a reduction in the size of the adrenal cortex.Glucocorticoids are excreted in breast milk.If there is a compelling indication, breastfeeding should be discontinued.Newborns whose mothers were treated long-term and/or extensively with corticosteroids during pregnancy or breastfeeding should be observed for possible undesirable sequelae.The product should not be used on the breast area during breastfeeding.

Notes

No prescription is required for this product.Contains cetostearyl alcohol and potassium sorbate.Pay attention to package leaflets.Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the pack.

Other

The cream must not be used on open wounds.When used over a large area for more than four weeks, especially under closure bandages or on severely damaged skin, cortisone-typical effects and side effects can occur all over the body.
