EBENOL® 0.25% Cream

The EBENOL® 0.25% cream is a product for the relief of mild inflammatory skin diseases, such as those caused by sunburn or insect bites.It contains low-dose hydrocortisone, which has an anti-inflammatory effect.The cream is fragrance-free and is particularly suitable for dry skin.It is suitable for adults and children aged 6 and over.

Mode of action

The active ingredient hydrocortisone in the EBENOL® 0.25% cream belongs to the group of glucocorticoids.It is a synthetically produced hormone that corresponds to the body's own cortisol.Hydrocortisone has anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic effects, helping to relieve skin inflammation.

The EBENOL® 0.25% cream contains the following active ingredients and excipients: 2.5 mg hydrocortisone, (RS)-2-octyldodecan-1-ol, dimeticon 350, disodium edetate 2-water, glycerol 85%, glycerol monostearate, oleyl oleate, medium-chain triglycerides, trometamol, purified water and potassium sorbate.

Area of application

The cream is used to relieve mild inflammatory skin diseases.These include redness from sunburn or insect bites, contact allergies and itching.The cream is particularly suitable for dry skin and is perfume-free.

Contraindications

The EBENOL® 0.25% cream must not be used for specific skin diseases such as syphilis or tuberculosis, viral infections such as chickenpox, herpes simplex or herpes zoster, vaccination reactions, fungal infections (mycoses), bacterial skin infections, acne vulgaris, steroid acne, skin inflammation near the mouth (perioral dermatitis), inflammatory redness of the face (rosacea) and allergy to hydrocortisone or onethe other ingredients.

Dosage

The cream is applied to the affected skin areas once or twice a day.It is suitable for long-term use, although a treatment period of four weeks should not be exceeded.The area of skin to be treated should not be larger than 1/10 of the body surface and the cream should not be used on open wounds.

Patient information

Particular caution is required when using it on the face, especially around the eyes, on sore skin areas, in skin folds, around skin ulcers, in the genital and anal areas.Children up to the age of 6 may only be treated with this medicine as prescribed by a doctor.Elderly people should use it carefully due to the weaker skin barrier.

Pregnancy

The cream should not be used over large areas or long-term during pregnancy and breastfeeding.If there is a compelling indication, breastfeeding should be discontinued.Newborns whose mothers were treated long-term and/or extensively with corticosteroids during pregnancy or breastfeeding should be observed for possible undesirable sequelae.

Notes

No prescription is required for this product.Contains cetostearyl alcohol and potassium sorbate.Pay attention to package leaflets.Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack or outer packaging.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.

Other

Do not use the cream on open wounds.When used over a large area for more than four weeks, cortisone-typical effects and side effects can occur all over the body.

I had been looking for an over-the-counter cortisone ointment and after some research decided on Ebenol. I was not disappointed. It has significantly reduced the inflammation on the scalp..in combination with Terzolin. Highly recommended, even for inflammation that has been present for years.
