Snup Schnupfenspray 0.05 % is a nasal spray with the active substance xylometazoline hydrochloride. It is used to reduce swelling of the nasal mucosa in the case of rhinitis, runny nose, allergic rhinitis, inflammation of the paranasal sinuses and middle ear catarrh associated with rhinitis. The remedy contracts the dilated veins of the mucous membrane, which reduces blood flow and promotes swelling of the mucous membrane. It is recommended to spray the spray into each nostril up to three times a day if needed. The duration of use should not exceed seven days, unless the doctor orders otherwise. Children between 2 and 6 years of age can use the nasal spray. It is recommended to pump several times before the first use to produce an even spray. The nasal spray should be cleaned with a clean paper tissue after use and the protective cap put back on. It should only ever be used by the same person. The medicine may be used for up to 12 months after opening and should be stored at room temperature. No special storage conditions are required. The composition consists of xylometazoline hydrochloride, potassium dihydrogen phosphate, seawater and purified water. The most common adverse effects may be nasal irritation, sneezing, nasal congestion and nosebleeds. It should be noted that the nasal spray should not be used for more than 7 days unless a doctor orders otherwise. There are some contraindications to the use of the nasal spray, such as hypersensitivity to the ingredients, drying of the nasal mucosa with bark formation and condition following brain surgery. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult their doctor or pharmacist before use. It is recommended to mention any other medicinal product to the doctor or pharmacist before starting treatment with a new one.
