Instructions for use of Taxofit Iron + Vitamin C

Taxofit® Iron + Vitamin C is an iron preparation that is used to supplement insufficient iron intake.It is available without a prescription and can be purchased at the pharmacy or online shop.

Active ingredients and ingredients

Each soft capsule contains 151.1 to 158.1 mg iron(II) sulfate x H2O (corresponding to 50 mg iron(II) ions) and 50 mg ascorbic acid.In addition, the preparation contains the following excipients: refined rapeseed oil, hydrogenated soybean oil, partially hydrogenated soybean oil, yellow wax, highly disperse silicon dioxide, (3-sn-phosphatidyl)choline from soybeans, butylated hydroxytoluene, butylated hydroxyanisole, gelatin, glycerol 85%, Anidrisorb 85/70, titanium dioxide, iron oxide, Ponceau 4R, aluminum salt andQuinoline yellow, aluminum salt.

Areas of application

Taxofit® Iron + Vitamin C is used to supplement insufficient iron intake.It is suitable for adults and adolescents aged 12 and over.

Application and dosage

Always take Taxofit® Iron + Vitamin C exactly according to the instructions in the package leaflet.The usual dose for adults and adolescents aged 12 and over is 1 to 2 soft capsules daily.The soft capsules can be taken on an empty stomach or with a meal with some liquid.The duration of application is not limited.If you forget a single dose, do not take a double dose, but continue using it as directed.

Contraindications and precautions

Taxofit® Iron + Vitamin C must not be taken if you are hypersensitive to any of the active ingredients, Ponceau 4R, soy, peanut or any of the other ingredients.The preparation should also not be used in cases of iron accumulation (hemochromatosis, chronic hemolysis) and iron utilization disorders (sideroachrestic anemia, lead anemia, thalassemia).In the case of pre-existing inflammation or ulcers of the gastrointestinal mucosa, the benefits of treatment should be carefully weighed against the risk of worsening the gastrointestinal disease.

Interactions with other medicines

Iron salts can affect the absorption of tetracyclines, penicillamine, gold compounds, levodopa, methyldopa, quinolone antibiotics and thyroxine.The absorption of iron can be reduced by the simultaneous use of cholestyramine, antacids, calcium and magnesium supplements.Taking iron salts at the same time as salicylates or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs can increase the irritating effect of iron on the mucous membrane of the gastrointestinal tract.Iron-binding substances such as phosphates, phytates or oxalates as well as milk, coffee and tea inhibit iron absorption.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, there are no concerns about using Taxofit® Iron + Vitamin C in the specified dosage.

Side effects

Like all medicines, Taxofit® Iron + Vitamin C can have side effects, although not everyone gets them.Possible side effects include gastrointestinal disorders and constipation.Ponceau 4R can very rarely cause allergic reactions.Soybean oil and soy lecithin can very rarely cause allergic reactions.The black coloring of the stool is harmless and may be due to iron intake.

Storage

Keep Taxofit® Iron + Vitamin C out of the reach of children.The expiry date of this pack is printed on the outer wrapper and blister pack.Do not use this pack after this date!Store the medicine in a dry place and not above 25°C.
