Iodide-ratiopharm 200 µg tablets are a medicine for the prevention and treatment of thyroid disorders. It contains the active substance potassium iodide and is used to prevent iodine deficiency and to treat goitre in newborn babies, children, adolescents and younger adults. The tablets are taken after a meal with sufficient liquid. The dosage varies depending on the age group and indication. The duration of use can be for years or even for life. In case of an overdose, various symptoms may occur, such as brown colouring of the mucous membranes, vomiting, abdominal pain and diarrhoea. The medicinal product must not be taken in case of hypersensitivity to the ingredients and in case of hyperthyroidism. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should only take the medicine under medical supervision. Side effects are rare but may occur.
