Silimarit soft capsules are a herbal medicinal product for the supportive treatment of chronic inflammatory liver diseases, liver cirrhosis and toxic liver damage. They contain a dry extract of milk thistle fruit with a content of 140 mg silymarin. Adolescents aged 12 years and over and adults take one soft capsule twice a day, regardless of the meal. The capsules should be taken unchewed with sufficient liquid. The duration of use is in principle not limited and should be determined by the attending physician. If the symptoms persist despite taking the capsules, a doctor should be consulted. An overdose can lead to increased side effects, therefore a doctor should be contacted in case of an overdose. The intake should not be continued with a double dose if a previous intake has been forgotten. Discontinuation of the medicine is usually safe. Side effects such as gastrointestinal complaints or skin reactions may occur. A doctor or pharmacist should be consulted if there are any questions about the use or further information. It is advised that the medicinal product should not be used in case of hypersensitivity to the ingredients and that certain age groups or pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult a doctor before use.
