Almasilate 1 g/10 ml caramel suspension is used for the symptomatic treatment of conditions in which stomach acid should be bound, such as stomach and duodenal ulcers, heartburn and acid-related stomach complaints. The medicine contains the active substance almasilate and is available as an oral suspension. The usual recommended dose is 10 ml 1-4 times a day 1-2 hours after meals and before bedtime. The treatment should not last longer than 2 weeks unless ordered by the doctor. Persons who are hypersensitive to the ingredients of the medicinal product or who have a phosphate deficiency should not take the medicine. Special care should be taken in persons with impaired kidney function. Gastrointestinal complaints such as mushy stools, constipation, flatulence and bloating may occur. Silicate stones in the kidney or urinary bladder may occur with long-term use of high doses. Hypersensitivity reactions are rare. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before use. The medicinal product should be kept out of the reach of children and protected from frost.
