Venostasin Gel Aescin is a traditional medicine used to improve the condition of tired legs. It contains the active ingredient aescin. The gel is applied thinly and evenly to the affected parts of the body and should be used 2 to 3 times a day. It should not be applied under final bandages and not at the same time as heat application. The gel is quickly absorbed, does not stain and is not sticky. Certain precautions should be observed during application. The gel should not be used if there is an allergy to aescin or any of the other ingredients or if the skin is damaged. It should also not be used in children and adolescents under 18 years of age. If new pain, swelling or bluish discolouration of the legs occurs, a doctor should be consulted as these may be signs of leg vein thrombosis. Side effects of the gel are rare and may include allergic skin reactions. If such reactions occur, the gel should be discontinued and a doctor consulted. The gel should be kept out of the reach of children and should not be stored above 25 °C. After opening the tube, the gel is stable for 6 months.
