Instructions for use for Pangrol 20000 gastro-resistant tablets, 100 pieces
Area of application
This preparation contains digestive enzymes obtained from the pancreas of pigs.It is used to treat digestive disorders caused by reduced or absent pancreatic function. No prescription is required for this product.
Active ingredients and ingredients
The preparation contains 191.11 mg of porcine pancreas powder, which includes enzymes such as triacylglycerol lipase, amylase and proteases. The following excipients are also included: carmellose sodium salt, microcrystalline cellulose, crospovidone, Eudragit L 30 D-55, hypromellose, lactose-1-water, macrogol 6000, magnesium stearate, sodium hydroxide, polysorbate 80, highly disperse silicon dioxide, simeticon emulsion 30%, talc, titanium dioxide, triethyl citrate, bergamot aromaand vanilla aroma.
Contraindications
The medicine must not be taken if you are allergic to pancreas powder, pork or any of the other ingredients. The preparation should also not be used in the event of acute inflammation of the pancreas or an acute attack of chronic inflammation during the fully developed phase of the disease. However, it may make sense to take it in the decline phase during the dietary build-up.
Dosage
Always take the preparation exactly as your doctor has told you.The recommended dose is 1 to 2 tablets per meal, equivalent to 20,000 to 40,000 Ph. Eur. units of lipase. The dosage depends on the severity of the indigestion and should be carried out under medical supervision.A daily enzyme dose of 15,000 to 20,000 units of lipase per kilogram of body weight should not be exceeded. The doctor should decide on the dosage for children.
The duration of use depends on the course of the disease and is determined by the doctor. If you take more than you should, drink plenty of water and talk to your doctor. If you forget to take the dose, do not take a double dose, but continue treatment as recommended.Stopping treatment prematurely may cause your symptoms to return.
Intake
Take the medicine whole with plenty of liquid, preferably in the middle of the meal.Make sure to swallow the tablets whole, as the medicine loses its effect when chewed and the enzymes it contains can damage the mucous membrane if released into the oral cavity.Drink plenty of fluids (water or juice).
Patient information
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking the product if you experience intestinal obstruction-like symptoms such as abdominal pain, lack of bowel movement, nausea or vomiting. The medicine contains active enzymes that, when released into the oral cavity, can cause damage to the mucous membrane. It has no or negligible influence on the ability to drive and use machines.
Pregnancy
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using any medicines. There is insufficient experience with the use of the drug in pregnant women. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should not take the product unless your doctor considers it absolutely necessary.
Notes
The absorption of folic acid can be reduced by taking the preparation, so additional folic acid intake may be necessary. The effect of the blood sugar-lowering active ingredients acarbose and miglitol can be reduced by taking the preparation at the same time.In individual cases, allergic reactions may occur in which the preparation must be discontinued immediately. In patients with cystic fibrosis, taking high doses can lead to increased uric acid excretion in the urine.
