Description

The herbal medicine consists of dry extract of the thyme herb (Thymus vulgaris).The essential oils of thyme have a germicidal effect and promote the transport of secretions from the respiratory tract.The lozenges are used for catarrh of the upper respiratory tract and for symptoms of bronchitis and whooping cough.

The pastilles have a pleasant taste and can also be used by children.

Area of application

This herbal medicine is used for respiratory tract colds.It helps relieve symptoms associated with thick mucus and bronchitis symptoms.

Active ingredients and ingredients

One lozenge contains 42 mg thyme herb dry extract, made with ethanol 70% (V/V) as an extractant.The following excipients are also included: Arabic gum, eucalyptus oil, glucose syrup, maltitol solution, thin paraffin, peppermint oil, saccharin sodium salt, highly dispersed silicon dioxide, purified water and 23 mg total sodium ion.

Contraindications

The lozenges must not be taken if you are hypersensitive or allergic to thyme, other mint plants (Lamiaceae), birch, mugwort, celery or any of the other ingredients of the medicine.

Dosage

Always take the lozenges exactly as directed.If you are unsure, please ask your doctor or pharmacist.

The usual dose for adults and adolescents aged 12 and over is 3 to 4 lozenges 3 to 4 times a day.Children aged 6 to 11 years take 2 to 3 lozenges 4 times a day.

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if the effect is too strong or too weak.

If you accidentally take one or two more doses than intended, this will usually not have any adverse consequences.If you take significantly more than this, please inform your doctor.

If you forget to take a dose, do not take a double dose next time, but continue taking it as prescribed or described.

Stopping the lozenges is usually harmless.

Intake

If possible, the lozenges should be sucked and not chewed so that the active ingredients can develop in the throat.

Patient information

Particular caution is required when taking it if symptoms last longer than a week or if shortness of breath, fever, purulent or bloody sputum occur.In such cases, you should consult a doctor immediately.

There are no sufficient studies available for use in children under 6 years of age.The lozenges should therefore not be used on children under 6 years of age.

There are no known restrictions for older people.

There are no known restrictions on the ability to drive or use machines for preparations containing thyme.

Pregnancy

The widespread use as food has so far provided no evidence of risks during pregnancy and breastfeeding.However, there are no sufficient studies on its use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.The application is therefore not recommended.Before taking/using any medicines, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice.
